Re-done Texture Not Appearing in CS or Game

Hmm, you did save the texture in .DDS format correct? That could be one possibility but I'm not sure if NifSkope lets you view non-DDS on a mesh or not.

Hmm, I've sort of tried putting stuff in seperate folders, but I'll try again. If not, I'll send it to you because that would be much appreciated. Perhaps you if you're good at texturing you can make it better. It's a crude looking Spider-Man suit that I know does not look good, but it was for practice for making a better texture in the future and just for the challenge of it.

 

If it is the case that you make it better (if it still does not work) maybe you could release it as a mod, if you give me the credit for the idea.

It might be a possibility. I've tried doing non .DDS textures into NifSkope and it says it is not recognized, but it may not be the same for all. When I converted my custom texture back from Bitmap form, there was an option for file type, and it was stuff like "X-1" or "X8R85C" or anything else that has number/letter combos. Maybe I'll just have to start over by converting the original mesh to a bitmap, edit in Gimp and convert back and try it.

Also, I tried just copying and pasting a pre-existing object with its textures and meshes in a seperate folder called "Test Folder" and did not modify anything. It came up in NifSkope but not CS. Could my CS be having trouble importing custom made objects from my own computer? Because objects from other mods are okay.

are you running "vista" or "xp" ?

Uhh... what would Vista or XP have to do with anything? I've run the CS on both, and made custom meshes/textures in both without issue.

 

because retexturing in Nif is different if you have vista. I have vista.

Aw, I want to throw in the towel, but I don't want to give up. I used that program that was suggested, and I was able to edit and save as DDS and it's still not working. The process works completely okay until I import to CS.

 

MY THEORIES

 

1) My computer does not accept DDS files made on my computer, only those made on another.

 

2) I'm not saving as the right kind of DDS.

 

3) My version of CS has issues with importing custom made textures done on my computer.

 

4) Some other kind of unknown/frustrating issues I have yet to figure out.

So...After many near sleepless nights of struggling, I created a new texture and managed to get it into the CS last night (very early this morning).

 

But the original texture showed underneath, and messing with the alpha and coloring in NifSkope worked at first in the CS, but then after some more tweaking it didn't. But I also realized I accidentally saved over the original file (Superman shirt).

 

Also, I think it worked this time because my texture file was saved in the same folder as the original textures for the original mesh.
