whitepuzzle
I have a problem where NV switches my display to fixed 60Hz when I run it with a higher DSR resolution. I read this happens with some games because they switch the refresh rate as the resolution change occurs from desktop (1080p) to in-game (2160p). Is there a way to get DSR and my native refresh rate (240Hz) with G-Sync working together? Because I get a lot of screen tearing when running 60fps@60Hz
JimboUK
Running this game at over 60 frames per second is a bad idea, things will go wrong, sped up animations and physics bugs among them.
dubiousintent
Yours is the first mention of "G-Sync" in this forum. "G-Sync" is specific to nVidia. It is supposed (according to their marketing ... take with double the usual amount of salt) to automatically handle this. You may want to experiment with the "VSync" parameter in the game INI files. Please see the following entries under the 'Solutions to Performance problems' section in the wiki Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide if you haven't already.* 'Issue: "Full screen mode" exhibits CTDs and stutters or micro-stutters'* 'Issue: Lag or "micro stutters" even with "New Vegas Stutter Remover" installed'* 'Issue: Win10 Screen tearing in "Borderless Windowed Mode"'But this is a question better addressed to nVidia Support. As pointed out, this is a ten year old game designed with compromises for XBox and PCs of the time running at 60FPS. nVidia probably doesn't even test their latest drivers against it any more. (I still use an older version of the driver for that very reason.) We will be interested to hear how you do resolve it for the next person. -Dubious-
FiftyTifty
Give https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU a try. Create your virtual resolution in your driver settings program, and if it's anything like AMD's, you should be able to edit it's entry with CRU. whitepuzzle
Running this game at over 60 frames per second is a bad idea, things will go wrong, sped up animations and physics bugs among them.I'm not trying to run the game over 60fps. I have the FPS capped to 60 with RTSS, as the in built vsync option adds horrendous input lag. The in built vsync option does allow me to achieve 2160p DSR operation with no screen tearing, but the input lag is unbearable. -Dubious-I figured my issue would be something that needs to be fixed game-side, but I will try asking in some nvidia forum too. With that said, I had the exact same issue with AMD, VSR (their version of DSR) and freesync. Edited October 23, 2019 by whitepuzzle
