We probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Seriously? It wouldn't be that a big deal, internet just makes us lazy, and fat.

I mean, what's so bad about just going to a nearby shop and buy something there?

It's nice if you live in a big country like Russia, far away from big city's, but other then that?

Pfft, it's a joke.

It does make life cheaper, and is most definately not a joke. If it is, why are you here? Granted, the crap/useful raito is abou 20sites to 1, but E-mail, online bookings and shopping redeem it. Means I don't have to bus into Bristol every time I want to buy stuff.

It would be a sigh of relief to some which means the re-building of a new Internet without the ball-n-chains of the old.

IPv6, new standards only, higher security, bigger pipelines (if the lines were physically destroyed) such as only using Fiber optics, etc.

Kind of like electricity. After its discovery and implementation, it was too wide-spread to introduce a new standard so that sticking your finger in the light socket would no longer kill you. If this is a shock to some of you, yes, there is a way to implement electricity in a more efficient manner as well as making death from electrocution a thing of the past but that would mean everything electrical we have would need to be replaced. ** sigh **

I agree, just because the method of connection may be interrupted, the knowedge still exists to rebuild the system. This is essentially true with anything modern, even if there was a world-wide emp surge which killed all electronics, There are enough people with knowledge to reinvent everything. The only real end to technology is if humans cease to exist.

Hmm, I'd have to do that ridiculously old-fashioned thing of actually going to the grocery store for my groceries!

Or you could do the even older thing - grow your own. ;)

Of course, this could be shopping if you wanted it to - I just don't think the ground would care that much about your money . . .
