Kithias910
The armor looks amazing! One question though, if I were to edit the stats of the Desert Ranger Combat Armor in GECK, the replacer doesn't work anymore, does it require you to create a completely new armor? If so, could you make it a light type armor? (if need of stats, I suppose same stats as Joshua Graham's Armor: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Joshua_Graham%27s_armor )Also I noticed some overlap on the pipboy/sleeve (when you pull up the pipboy the sleeve overlaps parts of the pipboy). Otherwise thank you for taking the time to do this, this is really awesome. Edited December 19, 2014 by Kithias910
DylanF1
OK took a shot at it. It's here. Not tested in game. It's a replacer (let me know if you were looking for a new armor). Just unrar into your data folder and select in your launcher of choice. Contains both the male and female version. Didn't change the icon or the go model. Thanks so much man! I was looking for a new armor, but I can do that myself in the GECK.
devinpatterson
The armor looks amazing! One question though, if I were to edit the stats of the Desert Ranger Combat Armor in GECK, the replacer doesn't work anymore If you create a new esp, and it loads after my esp, it resets the armor's stats, model, etc to default. If you edit my esp directly you can change the stats and the model will not change. If however you still want to make a new esp, you can also change the model path to the new nifs location (once you extract them from the BSA). So two options you can work with. Shout out if you can't get it working. Also I noticed some overlap on the pipboy/sleeve (when you pull up the pipboy the sleeve overlaps parts of the pipboy). So what I'm guessing happened there, is that this was a NPC armor/outfit and since it wasn't meant to be worn by the player or any npc with a pipboy it lacks the pipboy:on pipboy:off nodes. These essentially have a different mesh for the forearm depending on whether a pipboy is equipped (just shrink it down so it doesn't clip). I'll take a look at it later this weekend. Otherwise thank you for taking the time to do this, this is really awesome. That's mostly Q on the male version, I just put the pieces together. Thanks so much man! I was looking for a new armor, but I can do that myself in the GECK. Cool

Would you mind if I release this sometime after I finish testing my mod? It would be somewhat like a rogue Desert Ranger type mod.

It would be somewhat like a rogue Desert Ranger type mod.You probably know my opinion on the whole rogue desert ranger thing (I'v posted in a thread of yours with the same subject and was basically involved in a flame war associated with it). But if you can put together something solid that actually makes sense in relation to the game universe's lore then I'd be happy to let you use the model and some other ones I made (there is a pic of it in post #23). If I get the time I'll also be working on some additional ones for Rangers coming back from Baja toward the end of the game. One example would be a woolen poncho to evoke that good, bad and ugly spaghetti western feel.

I was just planning on making a gruff looking ranger that is a survivalist, that has not abandoned his Desert Ranger ways, but he dawns a different version of the armor (being the one you made). So it is just kind of like the one guy who didn't agree with the treaty, and he still wants to be a Desert Ranger, and he wanders the wastes to protect the innocent. Sure that's no problem at all, feel free. But if you use the male version you'd want to get permission from Q. You won't have any trouble, he's released a ton of stuff for the community. Thank you for providing the model! I greatly appreciate it.
DeeVee74
Devin! This thing is brilliant!I'm in the Divide right now, and aside from getting bushwhacked every ten minutes, I'm loading ED-E down with riot armor to take home for my pallies. This one would work PERFECT for Cass.Mind if I nip a copy? For personal use, unless I can write an epic that revolves around Cass wearing her jacket. devinpatterson
Devin! This thing is brilliant! Oh thanks, but it's just a little mashup, nothing special.....but I'm glad you find it useful. I'm in the Divide right now, and aside from getting bushwhacked every ten minutes, I'm loading ED-E down with riot armor to take home for my pallies. Yeah I remember getting sniped by a marked man with a AM rifle, more than once....good times I'm going (time permitting) to be doing a request from qwertyzeldar for some riot gear variants. This one would work PERFECT for Cass. Mind if I nip a copy? For personal use, unless I can write an epic that revolves around Cass wearing her jacket. Everything I make is free/open for personal use. I'v got a *lot* of play time out of the fallout series because of the community, and I'd like to give a little back. In regard to Cass, I floated the idea of sort of customized armors based on the particular npc. I'v done some models, like the one you see in this thread; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/DesertRangerJacketFemale_zps2af1f3e6.jpg But also a few other models here and there; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/cassUSgeneral_zpseabd3f06.jpg http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/cassDranger_zps9fdeac34.jpg And I thought it would be interesting to have those models change dynamically from stock/vanilla to a customized version when a companion equips them. It wouldn't be anything too crazy, just a simple script to check if a npc has equipped the item, store a var with the items health, then swap out the new armor and set the item health to it's new value. When it's unequipped reverse the process. A simple formlist of the stock outfits with variant models would be an easy condition to filter the rest of the script out. I think it would be a nice little touch of immersion.
