KnightRangersGuild
One of my mods apparently is not compatible with Hearthfire. Here is my mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23317 I don't know why this wouldn't be compatible with Hearthfire when breezehome has nothing to do with Hearthfire. But a lot of people like my mod and are requesting a fix but I'm not sure how because I cant figure out what is causing this.Any incite or advice would be great thanks! KnightRangersGuild
It's been about 14 hours since I posted this, hasn't anyone any advice for me? Edited October 18, 2012 by KnightRangersGuild
Georgiegril
Honestly, I think getting advice has become more difficult as there seem to be fewer people on the board. I don't have Hearthfire, and so I can only guess. Have you tried opening your mod with Hearthfire and Skyrim active, and then running the check for errors thing in the CK? Also, I think that the TESEdit tool is going to be really helpful for this kind of thing, but I haven't really gotten into it. If you go to the skyrim nexus news feed, you can call up the article that talks about it, and there are links to the project page. If you go there, there is also a guide to using TESEdit--like I said, I haven't really gotten into it, just took a look and read a bit of the guide. You might find it very helpful, I think. I dont own Hearthfire ether, and probably not going to if its not compatible with all those mods because I have over 200 mods, I'm starting to think there is something wrong with the DLC, what do you think? Georgiegril
Well, I don't know about something wrong, exactly..... I think Bethesda made their DLC to work with their vanilla game, which is understandable, I think they were not particularly concerned about how it might affect the independent mods out there. I think they made changes to their player houses to accommodate various aspects of the DLC, and that was their right to do so. Actually we independant modders are faced with the same issues-- many modders have had to make changes in their mods to make them compatible with other mods on the nexus so that players can enjoy both. Now that I understand you question better, btw, I think you really can't make your mod compatible to HF without purchasing it yourself. On a more personal not, I do find it irritating, regardless of their having the right. My mod does not seem to have any conflicts with it, as it has it's own little worldspace. However, I think if it was affected, I might just tell people that it isn't compatible with that DLC, and let them choose which they would rather have. Because the problem is, once you adapt it for HF, then people without HF will have conflicts. you will either have to keep up 2 versions, or force people to buy HF if they want your mod. While I might do that for a DLC that interested me, HF just doesn't inspire me, personally, and I would probably not go to the trouble. It is nice that you have a mod people like enough to complain when they can't use it!
