rockingsoul1613
I have never made a mod for a Bethesda game before. I am looking to use armor mods found on the nexus to replace vanilla armors. Is there a tutorial someone could point me to?

StormWolf01
Keep in mind that this is strictlt for personal use. IF plan on uploading this mod to share with others, you need to check the author's permissions first to see whether or not they allow you to share their work. That is all on you. Heya! Ok, please keep in mind that I've never done replacers before. So any kind of direct tutorial, I'm afraid that's not from me.But... what I can do.First, do a search in the fallout 4 downloads section of the site for FO4edit. Also called Xedit. Download and install that. It's like the CK, but easier, and doesn't have some of the tools built into it lke working with BSA files, some of the advance scripting, and other stuff that you WON'T need for this project. Did I mention it's a lot easier to use? Now, once it's running, ya DO have to jump thru some hoops. It's gonna open, and every single mod that you've got listed in your data folder is gonna be listed, and gonna have a check mark next to it.What you wanna do is hold down the CTRL key next to your space bar, and press the A key. That will highlight the entire list. Now uncheck one of them in the list. Since they're all highlighted that's gonna uncheck every single one of them. Now left click once, on one of the mods in the list to UNhighlight them all. Put a check next to the armor mod that you wanna use for your replacer and click Ok at the lower bottom right corner of the screen.Now... the tedium. As this thing loads up the first time, you're gonna get a pop up on your screen that gives you a tip on how to use the program. MAKE SURE that you check the box that says DON'T SHOW THIS AGAIN (or whatever it says) and click OK.Click OK over, and over and over and over and over again, for about 2 minutes. There are a LOT of these tip screens. But, if you've got that box checked, you'll never have to see them again. If all you want to do is do a straight, complete copy over, what you will want to do is scroll down the list in the LEFT side panel, til you find the name of the armor mod, and click thte + Next to it, to expand it.Now, find the section of the mod that says ARMOR. Don't do anything else there yet. Now, go up your Fallout4 esm, click the + to expand that. Scroll down in it, until you find Armor, and click the + to expand it. Now look for the armor that you want to be replaced. When you find it.RIGHT CLICK on it, and Chose COPY AS OVERRIDE. Then target the esp file for the armor MOD that ur using. Now scroll back down to the armor mod, and u should see both of the are now in there. Hold down the CTRL key, and Single LEFT Click on it, to highlight it in in the list. Now, scroll back down to where your replacer armor is, and hold the CTRL key down, as you left click on it.Now, if you did it correctly, (it does take some practice, and sometimes xedit gets fickle) if you RIGHT CLICK on that highlighted object, you should have an option for COMPARE SELECTED (2). Choose that. (I think you can select up to 7 or 8 items, this way, But I've only used 3. Takes too much to get them all on the screen if I do more than that).Once you can compare them, xedit will show them to you in different colors. Values that have the same value, will highlight in the same color. Values that are modified are green. (Or at least they are in the skin that I'm using.)You can drag and drop stuff over from one set of the armor piece, over to the other one. Right to left, left to right, either way. This makes things tons easier than trying to Copy N Paste (CnP) them. Now, this is where you get the learning experience. You get to figure out what goes where. 1) If you're gonna mod, you gotta be willing to experiment and trial and error. 2) Once you've got the ARMOR pages taken care of, you'll probly need to update the level lists, and I'll need screenshots to see when ya get to that point.3) I've got a broken hand, and after typing all this out, it hurts like hell, so I'm puttting off the rest of this, LOL. Press CTRL + the S key, to save ur work. you'll have questions, so don't hesitate to post them up. screenshots do wnders for helping with taht, btw  Edited December 14, 2019 by StormWolf01
Desie
I have a mod mod that I want to replace the Diamond City Security officers with. Assume everyone knows the basics of xEdit and please just specify the specifics of what to change and with what to focus (for instance IDs, Form IDs etc.)in this case, I really wanna get rid of their stupid baseball jerseys, armor, helmets etc. All of it. I have a mod that provides helmets, torso and gloves. Those items from the mod are what I want them to wear instead of the garbage from vanilla.Thanks.
