SeaSamia
I feel like a complete idiot for asking this, but I've seriously been at this for hours trying to get homemaker to install manually so I can just relax after my long week of work and game pleasantly on my weekend. It's been a few years since I used any FO4 mods, so I understand some things have changed. The issue I am currently having is that Homemaker isn't showing everything like when I used it years ago. IE. I am no longer seeing a menu for food machines such as the port-a-diner or water items like the water cooler or nuka cola machine. I'm sure more items are missing, but those are the ones I use in Vault 88, so it's considerably more bothersome/noticeable. I'm already having a tough go at using mod managers, so I'm good to install it manually, considering this is the only mod I want to use. What I have been doing is making sure my Fallout 4 ini is correct & extracting the data files to:Steam \ steamapps \ Common \ Fallout 4 \ Data& enabling the mod in game under load order. - Other mods install / uninstall just fine and work- The last time I used this mod was a different computer. This is a completely fresh install of both game and mod on a brand new computer- There hasn't been any CTD or anything else odd. Just the fact items are missing from Homemaker. Thanks. G4M3W1NN3R
the Primary main file on homemaker page is the 1 you want, the secondary file, the one that removes redundants is probably the 1 that removes all the items you have mentioned. i have written a quick tutorial for enabling modding which also includes details on manual installation of Homemaker, so if you are having issues with mods not working, be sure to check it out below: otherwise if it is not applicable, then the newer versions of homemaker may of removed said items, in that case download the older versions which can be found at the bottom of the download page. Setting up Fallout 4 for Modding: 1. Go here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 (windows 7 and below) or C:\Documents\Fallout 4 (Windows 10) Open or Create Fallout4Custom.ini Inside Fallout4Custom.ini Add this: [Archive]bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal= Save Fallout4Custom.ini, now the game is ready for modding (as long as the above exists inside that file, and that file exists in the correct place). and will now load external assets. such as Ba2 Archives. 2. Extract Homemaker to desktop for example: Double Click on Data Folder, and copy both Homemaker.ESM + Homemaker - Main.Ba2 to your Fallout 4 Data Folder. 3. Enable Homemaker.ESM Note: inside the either location mentioned at the start, You should have 3, Fallout 4 Ini Files Fallout4.ini <-- Game Settings - (Ignore) Fallout4Prefs.ini <-- More Game Settings - (Ignore) Fallout4Custom.ini <-- User Based Settings, this file is the 1 that enables modding, as long as the above exists - (this file must be created by the user). SeaSamia
Thanks for your reply & trying to help! I have downloaded the main file and made sure I did not download the "redundant" version. I actually just tried both versions now, and I don't even see a difference in game with them, but I have been using the main file. I have tried using version 1.55 as that seems to be the most stable. I'm going to check what version I used on my old computer if I can, but I don't think any versions earlier than 1.55 worked for me. I had tried 1.41 and it didn't work and showed less items & categories. Other mods are working just fine for me when trying to install them manually. I have made sure my ini files are correct. SeaSamia
I got this to work about another 2 hours trying to figure it out. Going to post it here in case anyone else is having issues with the latest version or items are not showing up correctly: I used the version on my old laptop, which was version 1.41. That seems to be the one that works for me. Even though I had uninstalled the menu layout via the holotape from the newest version (1.41 doesn't have a holotape and I wonder if that is where the issue/possible bug lies) it didn't seem to work for me, which is why the workshop menu was wonky with 1.41 and didn't show most of the categories. I downloaded the Settlement Menu Manager mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24204?tab=descriptionRan it via holotape and it was fine.
