Vanilla Vehicle import into 3ds

Hey,

So one of the first mods I want to create to get into the swing of things for Fo4 is creating a new vehicle replacement - decorative - I used to make vehicles from scratch for the GTA series, so felt this mod would be a appropriate 1st for me.

However, I continue to hit my head on a wall trying to source an original vehicle (Corvega for example) to import into max to see what kind of polygon count I need + Textures for rusted paint etc - I will be making to the standard vanilla quality/detail.

As this will be my first creation, I wish to use the textures and stuff from other vehicles until I get abit more up to date with the software.

I have 3ds max 2014 + niftools 3.8.0 (latest) for import.

So yes, if Someone can point me in the right direction as I am new to modding Fo4 I will greatly appreciate the help

Heya Edge. Ok, This is definitely out of my realm of knowledge. 1) I dunno much about 3d modeling. 2) I know almost Nothing about the CK. (Because it's a horrible, nasty monster, spawned from the ugliest critter in the very bowels of hell).

The only thing that I can tell you is that the graphics files are all packed up into the BSA archived files. I haven't done much research into, but from what I have learned, you need to extract any files from them, with the Creation Kit (ck).

I'm sorry that it's not a lot of help. But that's about all that I know.

Well!! That answered exactly what I needed to know, I now have the original Fo4 cars viewable in my 3ds max.

Once I have some success, I shall post some pictures (maybe not in this exact topic).

My first two vehicles I am going to make wiill be heavily influenced by these two retro concepts!

Thanks once again,

NICE!

I'm glad to hear that it got you started on the right path

No prob, welcome aboard the habitual and addictive FO4 modding train :D

No, seriously, welcome. It's great to have skilled people working on this game

Thanks  Truth be told, I have been addicted to this game for way too long  but it has not worn off and I have enjoyed the abundance of mods everyone has been creating that I could not resist but start to contribute myself!

Alright I had to build a new pc.. But im all the happier for if!

I am mostly skilled modding in making 3D models though... all the coding boggles my brain :geek: I still have the joy's of NIF exporting & collision creation to discover yet too! Although I am not fearful as this community is very helpful

LOL yeah, I hear you there. I started playing this game on a friend of mine's PS4 and got hooked pretty hard.

I'm still trying to figure out what it is, that makes Bethesda's games so addictive. I think, for me, it's because we have such a huge support community for their games, with so many new, creative, interesting, and colorful mods popping up almost every day, from great folks sharing their ideas with the rest of us.

I haven't played a Beth game aside from FO4 since waaaaay back in the old Morrowind days. And I would literally spend half my free time in whatever it was that they called their CK back then. (Sorry, memory fails, that was over a decade ago, hahaha). And looking back on it... the vanilla game was mediocre at best. It was the community that made it great.

Hey congrats on the new rig! That's awesome! I hope that she serves you well! :D

We all have our strengths. I too, find coding and scripting difficult. Of course, having severe dyslexia doesn't help, in my case! I've wanted to tinker around with some of the entry level stuff as far as 3d work goes, I dunno why I never have, tho.

Anyways, look forward to seeing your work when you get the hang of this! :)
