Why is there still no option to 'hide' or 'block' a mod from showing?

Hi GRUmod,

Unfortunately, blocking individual mods isn't as trivial as it sounds, but it has been mentioned before so it is being considered when we get to a point where that would be possible.

We do allow you to block tags or authors which should cover most use cases for the blocking system anyway.

Unfortunately, blocking tags is ineffective, as that feature only works for mods which are actually tagged. Mods with no tags will flood any search result.

I believe the default setting on mod pages allows users to vote tags onto mods. So it only takes 3 people to vote on the missing tags and the problem can be resolved

Are you willing to volunteer the time and effort of three members of the moderation staff to find and go through all 10,000 or so untagged mods and add the appropriate tags? Especially since the Nexus "lost" the untagged mods data with the last update.

The question is rhetorical. But, ...

How much easier t'would be to just require authors to add tags when uploading their mods?

And/or/maybe just give users the option to block untagged mods from search results.

Or have the tags automatically applied to mods depending of their categories?

For exemple mods under the Transfer Settlement Blueprints categorie should have the Transfer Settlement Blueprints tag automatically appiled.

I'm actually not a fan of the cases where we have duplicate categories and tags. It's something we're aware of though. Searching by category should be easier when we get to updating the search.

Here's a use case for you in regards to tagging mods.

I try to add tags to mods as and when I can, and hope that some other users add the same tags (it's a forlorn hope as next to no-one does this, because this system is almost useless). Today I saw a mod that is clearly not NSFW, so I just wanted to add a tag to show that, only to find that the mod author has blocked that specific tag from being added to their mod. Good move.

My options here - do nothing, see some sadcase mod for incels everywhere in my list, or block the mod author, which means that I block all their mods, including some that are useful.

Any other advice from the Nexus staff on how to overcome this limitation in this area?

If an author has blocked NSFW tags when the mod is clearly NSFW, please report it and a moderator can overrule the blocks.
