tbkiah
"As for the future of XCOM, Firaxis is open to the possibilities. Regarding the potential for mods and user-created content, DeAngelis notes that "it wasn't one of our core pillars when we started the project," but the team understands how important it is to the community. "It's something that we'd like to resolve going forward, but we still have quite a few things on our plate that have been planned for a while." That's really too bad... guess it's up to us to make mods and mod tools.
acky1
"It's something that we'd like to resolve going forward, but we still have quite a few things on our plate that have been planned for a while." Translation... WE WANT TO MAKE SOME $$$$$ OFF OF YOU WITH DLC, I'm so sick of the gaming industry leaving out content and selling it off as DLC. OddballE8
You cant stop the signal... eeh.. i mean... you cant stop the modding community.
rf900
Still a pity, Civ4 mod support was one of best ever, Civ5 has less capabilities, but I was hoping that Firaxis had it on their minds for this one also.
Kaerar
Well Elite Soldier pack is confirmed as DLC now, with an upcoming DLC also confirmed. I bet there's another one by Jan and then possibly one more before they get around to helping out more...
OddballE8
Right, were getting 2 story-mode type DLC packs and most likely we will get one more content DLC before they even start thinking of helping modders... if they do at all...
giorestZoneside
As always the gaming company prove their incompetence and stupidity, sooner or later all of them realize their mistake, usually just when they are about to close for good. Kickstarter all the way!
Daemonjax
Well, at least they haven't said they're against us modding it.
Caiman
YEAH... KS rocks for bringing mod-friendly games out(argh Harbrained! I don´t get why you don´t want to support actual modding for Shadowrun Returns! :pirate: ).
taleden
Well, at least they haven't said they're against us modding it. No, they haven't said that, but if you look in the modpatcher thread you'll find that Firaxis and/or 2K has just made a change to XCOM that makes all existing .ini mods stop working unless you put Steam into offline mode. Since actions speak louder than words, that sure seems like they intentionally want to stop us from modding at all.
