rad666a
I'm not sure if this should be in "Spoilers" or not, but I don't think so, so I'll post this here. I've been poking around in the city core for awhile, doing side quests, killing super mutants, ghouls, and talon company mercs, but now I'm trying to get out and back into the wasteland and I CAN'T FIND THE WAY! I'm in Metro Junction right now, heading for Chevy Chase, can anyone help?
mikekearn
Fast travel. Alternatively, find someone who actually knows the names of things, because while I have an excellent sense of direction, I can't remember names worth a crap, and am therefore less than useless in giving directions. rad666a
I'm trying to avoid Fast Travel if at all possible. I do the same when I play Oblivion (in fact I have a mod that disables it).
mikekearn
Well, I can't help you with your problem, but maybe you can help me out with something. I never understood what people had against fast travel. It's put in place for your own convenience, especially given situations like the one you are in. So why would you want to not use it? rad666a
I don't know really, mostly it's because I like to see what's over the next hill, find those little things you can only find if you actually walk there. Fast Travel skips over those. Sometimes while walking to somewhere I've been before I'll notice something I didn't see the last time, and go investigate. Probably comes from being a "completionist" (got the "Completionist" award is Mass Effect too ;)) Some others consider it an immersion breaker as well (I don't). mikekearn
Okay, that I suppose I can understand, because I'm the same way when walking to somewhere, but when walking back, I love fast travel. Mostly for the time it saves. Thanks for the answer, even though I couldn't help you out.
migius
I had the same problem as you, couldent find my way out of that maze.Instead of fast travelin to the nearest localitation i activated the main quest in my pip-boy, hens leding me away from the Metro junction by using the arrows in the map. This waill only work if you do not have a main quest in the city.
rad666a
Actually, I found my out fairly quickly after I started playing again. I'll just say I was on the right track with heading to Chevy Chase. ;)
Denamic
You can also make a marker out in the wasteland (right-click the map), and it'll point you in the right direction. It works just like a normal quest marker, so it'll show you which tunnel to go through.Very useful to get to those unexplored locations in the downtown maze. Meh2100
You can also look at the metro maps, It tells you where all of the metro tunnels link up
