Download problem

The weird thing is that sometimes it is fine, but when it is bad it seems to affect all servers. I really am going to have to remember to fire up Chrome when I want to download. Firefox does not seem to be behaving very well.

We've got 10 file servers; have you tried downloading from the others or are you getting these speeds on every server? When downloading manually are you using a download manager like DownThemAll? I know you use FireFox, and DownThemAll is a great plugin for the browser that's pretty discrete and works brilliantly. I can get download speeds of around 1MB/sec on US west coast servers, 1.3MB/sec on US east coast servers and 1.6MB/sec on the London servers (the normal, non-premium-only servers) using DownThemAll.

Realistically you shouldn't need a download manager at all. I download from the London servers at 1.4MB/sec in Chrome with no download manager.

Some files that do not require the server selection page seem to be slow randomly lately. I do not use any kind of manager for nexus files because in the past multiple streams has not been allowed and the recent increase in the bandwidth has been great. During that one period when every one seemed to be having problems I could not even connect here without using an onion router. That issue has long since been fixed and I have not had issues since then. Those few small slow files are small and hardly take any time any way. I never get corrupted downloads or broken connections even with huge files here (mid western United States) I have had to select an alternate server with some files when the wait time exceeded the limit and very new files some times require me to wait a while to try again. No big deal.

Any way... Best wishes

is the site struggling again today? I keep getting errors with downloading. l've tried...4-5 different servers, but if it's just an issue with the site being overloaded l don't wanna spam requests @ it. Lol.

if it's not a site problem, the file l've been trying is Interesting Npcs, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8429 - and l keep getting this error

just tried another server on the file and got the same thing.

I'm using chrome, no extensions etc.

Thanks. hehe

While we're on the subject. I too have been experiencing this problem. Yet only on the Skyrim Nexus. All other nexus sub-domains seem unaffected. Someone mentioned possibility of router issues, while that is a possibility; as an IT/Cisco certified professional I would like to point out that, while not entirely impossible, when a vast majority of the community is experiencing the same problem from all over the world, it comes down to the hosts (Nexus) server doing a "barrel-roll" of sorts and what comes back is their host servers (computers) basically saying "Sorry... What? I didn't understand what it is you wanted." This can be attributed to a vast load on the servers, after all there are 5,000,000 users on the Nexus, and while not all of those users are online at this very moment, it does cause quite a bit of load. Rest assured, while I am not amongst them; I am quite sure the team here at the Nexus is aware of the issues and is working to remedy them, as well as perhaps looking into upgrading/improving existing hosts.

(Don't quote me on this)

Meanwhile, in my own experiences, I have noticed downloads resuming in the NMM at times (as a normal user) but only when the file did some downloading before, aside from that, NMM/Manual downloads from the Salt Lake & Salt Lake #2 servers seem to be working nicely (from time to time) with a minimal amount of errors. Just letting everyone know that they're not alone in this conundrum and that as long as we wait patiently, a solution will be worked out, of that I am sure. Though it will not be overnight, and while this has been an issue for some time, it's probably not wise to rush the devs of the site into it as they may break something else in the process of trying to fix one thing, as the motto goes, don't rush perfection; you'll fix one thing and break three.

Anyways,

Cheers!

I've got that "white screen" issue with files from the Dragon Age Nexus. I tried to download several times (including refreshing the page) but it didn't work.

Then I tried to download from the Mount & Blade Nexus and had no problem. The links seems to have the same lay-out for both parts of the Nexus:

Dragon Age download url: http://fs10.nexusmods.com/Libs/Common/Managers/Downloads?Download&nid=140&fid=17464

Mount & Blade download url: http://fs9.nexusmods.com/Libs/Common/Managers/Downloads?Download&nid=190&fid=704

The number behind the "fs" seems to refer to the server (I tried several different servers), while the second number (140 and 190) seem to refer to the game for which the mod is for and the last number is the mod/download "ID".

I wonder why there would be an issue with all the links I've tried for DA, but none with those for M&B.

The Dragon Age download databases are maybe simply off-line, but I don't understand why they would be, and if they are, why isn't anything about it in the Nexus' news?

P.S.: sorry if I made grammar/vocabulary mistakes, English isn't my first language.

EDIT: It seems to work for me now...
