harlecerule
Hi there. One of the things that's bugged me about the Railroad questline is how despite their overall idealistic morals and good intentions, you end up killing a bunch of kids who were dragged along by Maxson when you blow up the BoS zeppelin. I think it would be awesome to have a mod that would add a quest that, if you're also a member in good standing of the Brotherhood as well, lets you take the squires out on a 'field trip' and hand them peacefully to the Minutemen or Railroad for deprogramming and adoption before you go back and destroy the Brotherhood. I suspect this would be somewhat complicated to make, but if anyone feels like taking on the challenge, I'd love to see something like this. mauvecloud
"if you're also a member in good standing of the Brotherhood as well" Hang on. Don't you have to be declared enemies of the Brotherhood (usually by going to the Mass Fusion building with the Institute) before you can get the Railroad quest to blow up the Prydwen? ImmortalAbsol
I've been thinking about sparing/saving characters from enemy factions.Eve, X6-88.Squires, Scribes, Liberty Prime etc. As a primarily Minuteman-Railroad player, I want to be saving people not blowing them up. Things like convincing Paladin Brandis to retire at your settlement instead of going back to the Prydwin. You beat me to it posting here (close enough) but I did have someone I wanted to talk to about it. mauvecloud
If you're ready to go that far, I've been using the mod "Project Valkyrie" that allows reforming the Brotherhood and Institute instead of blowing them up. Perhaps that mod would interest both of you.
ImmortalAbsol
@mauvecloud is it and it's partner mods relatively lore-friendly? Like not bizarre, at least?
mauvecloud
Personally, I'd say they're pretty lore-friendly, though the author posted an article showing how useless the term "lore-friendly" has become, since FO4 is already inconsistent with earlier games in the series: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/1317
ImmortalAbsol
That makes sense, I just don't want anything jarring. In the Sims modding team there's the term 'Maxis Matched' meaning it doesn't stray too far from the intended feel of the game. And I'm very much that type of mod user.
Azworai
If you don't like jarring, just avoid the nightclub-esque locations. They make logical sense insofar as, "Why has no one rebuilt some crap in all these years?" but they also do not quite fit the retro 50's vibe in terms of the music/lighting. That said, you don't need to interact with them much if at all. The only other thing with Project Valkyrie and it's companion mods(Which only Outcasts and Remnants would be required, as Outcasts and Remnants is a master to both Project Valkyrie and Depravity, and Fusion City Rising stands on its own, not needing nor required by any of the others) that would be likely jarring is some of the companions will take cracks at oversights and weird quirks of Bethesda games. "Did the nuclear apocalypse destroy all the bathrooms in Boston? Why do so few houses HAVE bathrooms anymore?" comments like that. Or, "Did the Commonwealth get smaller? It used to take hours to drive this far, now we can run it in about the same time..." etc... Edit:Most of the more 'bizarre' things are one-off jokes that can mostly be shrugged off, in my opinion. That said, I don't know what your threshold for 'too bizarre, I'm out!" is.Personally, Fusion City Rising, Outcasts and Remnants, Project Valkyrie and Depravity are staples for me to include in any Fallout 4 experience at this point due to giving new methods of handling old quests while not removing them, while making things seem rather internally consistent with itself and for the most part with Fallout itself. I say for the most part because people can argue what fits and what doesn't for years. Also; Thuggysmurf's documentation is some of the most thorough and useful for troubleshooting issues I've encountered, and if that fails, the Project Valkyrie Discord channel is active on a near daily basis(some days are slower than others but there's a fair few of us on at multiple times of day) which grants the opportunity for more efficient real-time troubleshooting of some issues.
