MalvazarOrmega
Okay so I finally got around to getting skyrim and installing it, only to be met with a super slow menu screen. I could probably count the frames honestly. I don't know why this is happening, I know my system can handle the game. Could use some insight on this problem. Brandy1123
Without knowing much more then you wrote, try this, Turn off anisotropc filtering and turn off antialiasing. Both of these are in the Skyrim Option when the game gets past the STEAMypile screen on the game load.
MalvazarOrmega
Mkay well what else would you need to know other than my specs?
Elysarian
I don't want to sound like an elitist ass here but... Why do people insist on trying to play (relatively) high spec games on non-gaming hardware? The GPU in the OP's rig is not and never was a gaming GPU (it's fine for older games, for decoding blueray and the like) - OP needs to give serious consideration to upgrading - assuming it's a desktop machine and not a laptop you can do so for less that $/£50 these days and get a 4xx, 5xx or 6xx geforce - preferably with a second digit higher than 5... I seem to see this kind of thing in practically every gaming forum I take part in, as does my wife in hers (facepalm moments like this are quite common in the Sims 3 forums...) Failing the option to upgrade, try switching every graphical option to the absolute minimum as suggestes above and whatever you do, don't install any hi-res textures :)
MalvazarOrmega
I was considering upgrade the graphics yes, i just chose the try and make work what i have first. Honestly I hate nvidia with a passion (only have it cause it was in the machine already), they are about the most useless company on the face of the earth (never hard a card from them that is worth a damn)

But I'm in the opposite camp to you, I've never got on with ATI cards, last one I owned was an X1950XT which I replaced with an nVidia 8800GT after suffering with the (at the time) ridiculously poor ATI antialiasing performace - I have ATI in my laptop in the form of a radeon hd 5450m and it does the job for what I do on there (even works quite well with CoD MW3) but I'm still not sure whether I'd go back to AMD (as ATI are now) for my desktop machine - though I may when I upgrade my processor next year. I'm by no means a "fanboy" so if you do upgrade then I'd say (on a budget) the Radeon 7750 might be a decent choice in its 2GB form ;)
