unown321
After updating my steam account , all my downloads were so called "Uninstalled" . Funny thing is , my C drive is still the same , no space freed , still 22GB free. The funnier thing is , I can play skyrim with through shortcuts (TESV or SKSE loader), but I'm worried that if an update comes up , I have to so called reinstall on steam again. Will reinstalling skyrim overwrite my 100+ mods??? Someone please help >.<!!!!!
Oubliette
No. Steam's been acting weird the last few days. Just exit it and open it again, that should solve the problem.
Elfriend
I've got a Steam problem, too (what else is new?). I bought the Dawnguard DLC, then deleted it with Nexus Mod Manager to see if it was what was causing a sudden rash of lockups and CTDs. I thought I'd be able to re-download it from Steam, but can't find a way to do it. Help please?
Guellph
I thought it was my computer. It still might be, but with everyone else having Steam problems...I start Skyrim and I can play for about a minute and then the dreaded CTD. I removed all mods added since the problem started, and no change. I reinstalled Skyrim first with the reinstall command, and then with a complete uninstall and new installation and got nothing.I like the game and the different mods that add so much to it, but the frustration of the constant CTDs is driving me away.I have tried playing in offline mods with the same result.Does anyone know of a way to play without Steam involved? Without using a cracked copy, I mean.

davycrockett
Elfriend bad news check out skyrim properties tab in steam you need to reinstall the entire game just for dawnguard download . and heres a tip i picked up on the nexus for steam when it refuses to start in offline mode worth doing when steam messes about cos it usually indicates a S@@t storm on the horizon look in steam apps folder find winui.gcf ( when all is running well that is ) copy and paste it to somewhere other than steam so it cant screw it up and when the storm hits hopefully you will still be able to play simply copy and paste back over the probably corrupted one thats preventing you from playing . Elfriend
Thanks, davycrockett (by the bye, he called himself David, apparently hated to be called Davy). I figured it out the hard way by deleting local content and re-downloading. Fortunately, I had the game on disk so I could install it and re-download the rest (only (!) 5 G for the HD DLC, Dawnguard and Hearthfires, plus the updates). God, I hate Steam. My fault in a way, I now know that I should have just unchecked the Dawnguard .esm. I even had a copy of my Data file from after I installed DG. Live and learn. God, I hate Steam, I wouldn't put up with it for anything less than Skyrim. God, I hate Steam. Thanks for the tip, I'll do it.<br>

Would it cause me to lose all my mods??? If it would , then i would hafta stick to SKSE loader app.
Elfriend
Well, I just finished reinstalling from the original disk, but I did not delete all the Skyrim folders from my drive before doing so. S@#%m then automatically updated the game and re-downloaded all my DLC. All my mods are intact, but who knows what will happen to you. S@#%m sucks. Good luck, and I apologize for hijacking your thread.
