EdgeUK90 Posted November 18, 2019 Share Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) As much as I love Fo4, after playing the story 1.8 million times - one does beg to question an alternative story? We have such a strong community here, this will be fantastic grounds for an 'Overhaul' mod. Prequal or shared time setting (Events happening just before the Vault dwellers experience or a few years before, I tend to favour the same time setting as the large events of the commonwealth wont need complete re-writing). For example, instead of being the vault 111 dweller you could be any of the given following: _______________ Gunners: Play as the rogue Gunner who begins their story at GNR plaza or sanctioned to Vault 95 - an unfortunate tale of events make this character go rogue against the gunners after discovering someone from your crew was murdered over a secret they discovered - in turn upon you also stumbling accross this fact leads to your attempted extermination which goes horriby wrong. Being exiled from the Gunners and knowing that returning in any form will result in being fired upon - The now "Lone wanderer" explores the commonwealth seeking shelter, coming accross the other factions and deciding whether to help or not - just like the original game" This setting could also have you play as part of the advancing crew of gunner's eliminating the minutemen from Quincy as the intro - with a handful of quests related to the gunners before your extermination. ^^ Personally my favourite______________ B.O.S : Play as a B.O.S Soldier, your experience starts with you flying into the commonwealth aboard the prydwyn - Engage in the battle for the airport. Complete a handful of quests to aid the B.O.S establish their position at the Airport before being sent out into the commonwealth for supplies & technology - where in turn you will also meet the other factions & can change the path of the main player from this point. Writing this start I want to keep the B.O.S on good grounds so that the player can continue to work for this faction if they choose to and turn against the rest. ______________ Synth : Play as a Synth who has escaped the institute, your experience would start in a small caravan with the railroad on your way to a safehouse when you are ambushed - the player narrowly escapes the ambush and is forced out into the commonwealth wasteland searching for somewhere to call shelter / purpose.After witnessing what happens to other synths in the first town you come across (Goodneighbour, watching the guards gun down an 'Imposter' in the street) You decide to keep your real identity hidden, and come up with an alias when questioned by the mayor - who believes you. This means you are then free to choose your gameplay / faction route as you would normally. ______________ These are just a few given intro's scenario's to give an idea of the purpose of this mod idea - Obviously the plot's can be expanded upon greatly to finish the game storyline. We could add a few new hidden locations or places just on the outskirts of the map for the new player content (Depending which one ofcourse). Mod usage plan, Original: - Fo4 Map- Sounds- Enemies & Factions- Characters Additional: - Character's (inc new voices)- Questline & Side quests- Locations (Minor additions & Interiors)- Weapons-Armor / PA / Clothing Ofcourse we would throw in a few new pieces of armor, clothing weapons etc - as whats a new story when it doesn't have any new gear? It would be great to hear your feedback / suggestions on this mod idea. I am not in a position to make this happen, although I would like to get involved if the project is adopted. (I am a modeller, not a scripter). [EDIT] Yes, I am aware there is a mod called "Start me up" with alternate start choices, But I mean a complete new story and with new actors etc. Thank you for reading, -Edge. YouDoNotKnowMyName Posted December 22, 2019 Share Posted December 22, 2019 Yeah, I would love some "alternate main quest" type of thing.Because it is really annoying how all of the faction quests are tied into the main quest.So if you are RPing as someone other then the "Sole Survivor of Vault 111", then you don't really have much to do in terms of large "main" quests ... I like the way they did it in Skyrim, have the faction quests independent of the main quest.But I can see, why they did it this way. Probably because people were complaining that factions had too little impact on the world in Skyrim ... But I really don't have any good creative ideas or anything like that, so sorry that I can't help you ... For me personally the lower levels of the game are always the most exciting, because every little bit of scrap, every new wepon, every bit of food (...) really matters.After a few levels you kind of get "saturated" with stuff and it starts to matter less ...That's usually the point where I delete that save and start a new one. I have never played through the main quest (but seen other people do it) and I never played the game without an alternate start mod.(Ok, that's not 100% true, the first time I didn't use any mods and played to LVL2 or 3 just to see if my computer could run the gam ...) The last few years I have been playing / modding Skyrim, and I never had the same feeling there, because the main quest wasn't as "forced upon you" as in FO4 and all of the factions were independent of the MQ.
