I have tried everything to fix this I can think of, Firewall settings, logging in and out of Bethesda account, verifying/repairing files. Weird thing in my Skyrim everything is fine, the only difference is for some reason I can' connect to the Bethesda.net servers in Fallout 4. Skyrim I can. If anyone can give me some help, I would greatly appreciate it. Also any more info you need just tell me and I'll provide it as best as I can.

Heya Arehgee. What are you using to start the game? The Fallout4 exe? The fallout launcher .exe? F4se launcher exe?

Things we will need to know

Also, you say that it won't connect, do you mean the options are grayed out, for anything like Mods, CC content, etc? Or do you mean that you can't log into the Bethesda site thru the game, to access the bethesda mods? [Edit] NVM, just read your thread title again, sorry! [/edit]

A lot of times, in my installs, and even back when I played on the PS4, the MODS option would stay grayed out for a bit. Sometimes I had to choose load, pick one, then exit out of that option (sometimes multiple times) before the MODS option would become available.

[edit] If that doesn't work for you, check the permissions for all of your related .exe files, and make sure that all of them are running as administrator. Right click on them, choose properties, then choose Compatibility, make sure that Run as Administrator is ticked. Then click Apply Then OK.

Another thing that can do it, is if your machine has been active/running when your router or modem has been reset. If your router or modem has gone offline, lost power, manually been reset, or lost connection, reboot your computer. Then try the game again. May have to try the Load trick a couple of times for the game connection to reset again tho.

I have tried it with all the launchers you have mentioned . I'll double check the admin options and I'll reboot the computer too. Now is this likely something I can fix without a reinstall? I have been advised in the past, never do a reinstall. That I should be able to fix things without doing so.

OK. I tried it as you said, F4se, running on admin worked. So thank you for that. Still not sure though that I am out of the woods. I think I got into problems because I started messing with a cloud/steam synch when I had a CTD problem. It seemed like it would happen when the game would try to autosave. So like I said, I messed around with the synch and that fixed the problem but then a few days in I noticed that CC/Mods was grey.

Hey again! Yeah, like I said, this is pretty normal behavior for me, so I'm used to it. But I'm glad to hear that your's is running smoothly. If you've got mods that require f4se then yes, you should use that to always boot up the game.

Steam. With this particular game, you want to avoid steam as much as possible. Especially since you are using f4se. Steam can autoupdate your game.exe and since your exe build number HAS to match your version of f4se, which whatever mods rely on, steam can cause you some issues there.

Speakiing of which, I do believe that there's an update coming here shortly. Don't update until the new release of f4se.

You'll also want to set it for administrator again, when you do.

Reinstalling. It's a pain in the rump. Not gonna lie about that. ;)

Takes forever to redownload all the game files, reinstall all your mods, maybe have to redo your .ini settings, and load order.... yeah. But, it's not something that is to be completely unavoidable at all costs.

I don't know if you have a large enough hard drive to do it or not. But I routinely make working backups of my install, and my MyGames/Fallout4 folder. I use a free program called FastCopy for it. That way, if something catastrophic DOES happen (And I've had to do it twice now!) I'm prepared. I can literally just delete out everything from my install folder and use FastCopy to replace it all.

Now granted I'm saving to an external 6 terabyte drive. But if you just want to have a clean install backup, a 32gb USB stick will work. Probly wanna go with at least a 1 tb drive tho, if you want to keep routine backups.

One other thing I will go ahead and advise, since you mentioned Creation Club. Don't go overboard with that. Really try to restrict CCC from your game folder. The big reason is being that all of them are packed as ESL files. Right now, ESL files have limitations. (the next update is supposed to fix some of that.)

Too many of them, (and the limit isn't set by how many esl files you have, it's set by how much TOTAL information they contain, when all added up together), when you hit the max, it can cause CTD. It will also make it so that you cannot install new mods, without having to delete a few first.

Anyways. Again, glad to hear it's working! If ya need any more help, this is a good place to go :)
