Nagato20
Why did not any of the players get the idea to make the exe version 1.5.96 available? For those who have the latest update on it.Is too easy ....
Deleted119721User
Note that in Canada the option to "only update when game loads" for SSE is intentionally disabled. This essentially means that it is impossible to prevent SSE from forced updates .... You can reduce the risk though by setting Steam to only update in the middle of the night and never ever leaving Steam running overnight with Internet access. This round of updates, SKSE and the SKSE dependent mods are getting updated quickly but this is no where near complete yet. Last round it took almost a month. I have never actually rolled back .... last time I got force updated I just didn't play for a week or 2.
anjenthedog
If you already started the update process, check the LL conversion tracking thread. Small consolation, but there seem to be far fewer mods that need addressing this time around. I'd also recommend that the day of release, people should not fall into panic mode. I found out about the update via my game crashing, over and over and over...out of the blue. rebooted machine a couple times but that didn't help. each time I encountered the same bizarre behavior. Months and months of error free play and suddenly, out of the blue, (no new mods installed for over a week and all were stable) on the day of the release of 1.5.97 and my game stops working... Even though I don't run Steam online... Turns out that no, my engine wasn't updated (I run stream in offline mode), but the game continued to crash. It'd die before the main menu launched, shorty after the main menu launched, even got into the game a couple times but it died on the vine once in. Had been playing for almost five months without issue, and the day of this Steam release the game refused to work. Two days later and I'm back on the machine getting ready to check LL conversion to see how the mod updates are going and figure out whether I should just bite the bullet, install the update and SKSE update, uninstall or disable a half dozen or so mods, and play gimped until the conversions were processed.... and on a lark I fire up the game. Works flawlessly again. No changes on my end, just magically, after not working at all on the day Steam released 1.5.97 during dozens and dozens of attempts and multiple windows reboots, it magically works again. Can't say why...Maybe a stray neutrino messed with my computer system. Maybe it was just some strange glitch with "windows", Maybe some space alien had control of my computer... Maybe the stars were in poor alignment and my cosmic alignment just meant "a day of troubles", or maybe I didn't sacrifice a goat or something... or maybe, just maybe, Steam is engaging in some underhanded tactics to imply a *need* to update when in fact there isn't one. StraightedgeDan
Howard broke my skyrim se with the latest update. I've played skyrim since 11/11/11 and have found out how much of a stupid noob I am. I have tried every way I can find to roll back to a previous version of SKSE and Skyrim se that I can find. with no success I would like to roll back to a version that is mid 2019 but I can't seem to find the right combination.I have tried unloading all my mods and running just skse. the results are the same. I get "The code execution cannot proceed because steam_api64.dll was not found. reinstalling the program may fix this problem. Now I don't know if it is talking about reinstalling skyrim se or reinstalling steam? any help would be appreciated. I'm on the back side of 60 and my brain doesen't work as good as it used to. No one broke anything. This is a risk that all modders, regardless of game, take when modding and playing games that are currently being updated. To your problem. It seems to me that you are asking two things here: (1) how to roll back your Skyrim SE installation, and (2) how to unbork your current installation. 1 The only way you can roll back is if you had previously made a backup. Or I suppose you might find one online, uploaded by another player. There isn't an official way to do this. 2 My suggestion would be to make a backup of your mods and then reinstall the game. SKSE has already been updated for this current update, so you can go ahead and reinstall all of your mods and play the game as you had been.  After that, I suggest you take the steps that have been suggested in this thread of turning off automatic updates and optionally playing in offline mode. StraightedgeDan
My skse still says that I'm running the newest version of Skyrim and that SkSE is out of date. Is SkSE really updated because what do I have to do? Reinstall mods?

nightscrawl
My skse still says that I'm running the newest version of Skyrim and that SkSE is out of date. Is SkSE really updated because what do I have to do? Reinstall mods? You know you have to download and install the new SKSE version, right? It's not clear from your post that you actually updated SKSE for the new Skyrim update. Update Skyrim. Update SKSE. Play. Some mods might have to be updated, so check your SKSE mods. Also, make sure that you're updating SKSE correctly. For example, don't just dump the new version of SKSE in the game folder on top of the old one, because then you will have two game version dlls, one for 1.5.80 and one for 1.5.97. Deleted119721User
Bethesda just deployed a new update for Skyrim SE folks... Better back up your games/lock Steam down in Offline Mode... Or, people could just install Skyrim Exe Auto Backup and not have to freak out about every update.Instead, just restore the EXE from the backup folder when the update is detected, and play your game with your current versions of SKSE64, and all of your mods until they all get updated. Locking Steam down in Offline Mode is much simpler/far more convenient for me... I don't play/game online at all. 100% offline gaming for me. I don't have time for all the trolls & other riff raff that lurk across various online games. Since I have Skyrim to only update when I run the exe, and since I use SKSE64, just starting the game with SKSE64 bypasses the trigger for Steam to update.Plus, as I said, I also use the auto backup, which just allows me to use the backed up exe with the newly updated game until everything is updated. Much easier, less stressful, and it's automatic. Believe it or not ..... this option is intentionally blocked by Bethesda in some places like Canada. Wherever you are must have stronger consumer protection laws .... lolololo In Canada the only way to block update is to set it to update in the middle of the night and never every leave Steam loaded overnight with an Internet connection. If you play on-line games eventually you will forget ....
Varrick7685
I'm pretty new to modding on pc. The day i finally gather all the mods i wanted and install the last SKSE that was working, and they put out an update just to screw me... Current SKSE files aren't even executable.
