dthumb
My PC died out recently but thanks to Jagermh, I learned everything was working except for the graphics card. I suspected the processor, turns out Intel dual cores are quite durable lol. Anyway, I need a new medium ranged graphics card but I barely had enough space for the old 9800 GT. So a new one will probably; -not have enough room for ventilation and end up dead like the old one-not have enough space-not enough power Since I can't afford a brand new one right now, I'll just get the 3 things i'll need to fix it and hopefully get the other parts by spring/ summer. Of course I need you guys to help me choose the parts. Still unsure if I should replace some old parts or build a new one entirely because a new CPU will cost me a little less than 800 USD, but that's still open for discussion. FMod
7850 shouldn't cost $326. A new CPU doesn't cost $800, it costs $220. You don't live in McMurdo, do you? 7850 for proper price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150609$200, send in a rebate coupon and it's $180. kalikka
Im pretty sure that your current CPU would bottleneck the HD7850 (HD6870<HD7850), so I will recommend the HD7770/7750 if you arent upgrading your CPU in the near future. As for case, I <3 Bitfenix Shinobi and Rosewill Blackhawk. PSU: A saying goes in the Finnish OC community: "A good PSU is a cheap insurance". China junk can effectively destroy a 1k rig, so make sure the PSU is a decent one (Quality doesnt always mean high price ;) ).Cant really say anything about that PSU as its not sold in Europe. CPU+mobo+cheap random DDR3 memory= ~390$Add in a good (~50$) cooler and you can easily get 4,5ghz clocks. FMod
Really shouldn't do that, get 7850 or don't bother at all. There are no real bottlenecks, powerful GPU with weak CPU will let you set high graphics settings. I think StrikeX can be found in EU, but it's fairly lame compared to this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 - which is better and also cheaper. StrikeX is OK, but TXV2 is Seasonic S12-II.
kalikka
Found a good cheaper PSU: XFX core edition 550W
dthumb
Thanks for the comments guys,-I don't live in the US, I converted the price into USD because I know you guys are gonna reference newegg (I do it too). I'm on the other side of the world, no newegg afaik. I'm still gonna run around some shops to get the best price.-By CPU I mean the main unit, bad habits die hard. So it's 800 usd for a new pretty box with everything in it.-I'm not planning on adding another GPU, I'll fix the OP a bit to add planned future updates.-That Rosewill Blackhawk looks nice, does it have washable dust filters? I know I've seen some Rosewill products here. You don't live in McMurdo, do you?No, not really. :whistling: Interesting Update: I may have found a way to order from Newegg thru a Parcel Service... hmmm need to check first. dthumb
Ok scrap the parcel service, it costs 50$ extra for Computer products. (Plus the hassle in case one of the items don't work) Updating some stuff (most of it lol): PROCESSOR: AMD FX6100 3.3Ghz 6MB MOTHERBOARD: MSI A75MA-P55 A75/A/V/L/DDR3 MSI 760GM-P34 FX /DDR3/A/V/L MEMORY: Kingston 4GB PC3-10600 DDR3 1333 X4 *RIPJAWS 8GB 1600 X2 GPU: Asus EAH7850 DC2 2GB DDR5 256bit POWERCOLOR HD7850 (I'm guessing this one is 1gig, need to visit that store)*PSU: SEASONIC S12II 620W (Is this overkill? dthumb
Minor update:PROCESSOR: AMD FX6100 3.3Ghz 6MB MOTHERBOARD: MSI 760GM-P34 FX /DDR3/A/V/L (Mini ATX, 2 memory slots 16G max, 1 slot for GPU sounds good) *MEMORY: RIPJAWS 8GB 1600 x2 *GPU: POWERCOLOR HD7850 2GB (cheapest 7850 I can find) *PSU: SEASONIC S12II 620W (still undecided with 620w or 520w) *CASE: 1. Lancool PC-K58BE (Solid/rigid case, cheap, and has lots of space... Weak front and top plastic cover and unsure about stock) 2. ANTEC THREE HUNDRED (I really like the look :P... old but recommended to me) 3. Thermaltake V4 (unsure) 4. Corsair 300R (i heard it's an ok case, but metal covers are flimsy) DVDR: Asus DRW-24B5ST 24x Sata Suggestions or violent reactions are very welcome. kalikka
I would recommend fx-6300 (Vishera) instead of 6100 (Zambezi) and OC it.But the mobo you picked doesnt really allow OC... Or at least I wouldnt use a 50$ board for it.http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/image//skymtl/CPU/FX-6300-FX-4300/FX-6300-FX-4300-83.jpg Good cases are Bitfenix Shinobi (using it on my brothers rig), fractal design "define" cases, etc.Or anything that isnt old/overpriced junk (=doesnt have USB3.0/etc.). I dont know how much the seasonic costs, but I still recommend xfx 550W ;)
