Destroy the Thieves Guild - Final Version - help starting the quest.

The mod author last posted in '17 saying they're vanishing off and no longer supporting their mods. So... I downloaded it, installed it, put it at the bottom of the load list just above the Bash Patch, and loaded up my game. Went to Riften and, as I saw Gopher do in his review video, I ran up and buried my battleaxe in Brynoff. I went to talk to Mjoll and no options like in Gopher's video to tell her I had killed Brynof to start the quest to wipe the rest of them out. Tried a half a dozen different ways. Left, entered the city, made sure I had talked to Dirge at the gates of Riften, etc. Nada. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this quest to start? Thanks!

In order to make sure the mod's working properly, try to make a new character and cheat your way into Riften to try and begin the quest, or force it with console commands (although I'm not sure how the latter works for modded quests).

 

It could just be that your current character's save hasn't loaded in the quest yet. If the test with the new character is complete and the quest is functioning, then try sleeping or waiting a while on your main character and try to start it then. Hopefully it didn't bug.

Well, given that Brynoff is killable is an indicator that *something* is working, usually he's set essential. *hmm* I'll try the wait thing, wait 24 hours and see if Mjoll will finally talk to me. And I can't force my way into Riften, the mod author put that on the mod desc page.

 

" - If you use cheats to get into Riften, make sure that you leave Riften at least once because otherwise Mjoll will not follow you (exit and re-enter Riften fixes the problem). "

 

Which is why I exited and reentered Riften again and even made sure to talk to Dirge, I don't know what the trigger is that cheating your way in misses. Hmm. I'll even try talking to Mjoll first to learn about the Thieves Guild from her before burying the hatchet, literally, into Brynoff.

Update, nope, axed Brynoff, waited 24 hours, nothing. Heck, I waited until I could do Mjoll's quest at level 14, did that, so now she can be a companion, and still, nope, I can kill Brynoff but it won't progress beyond that. :(
