races in skyrim

All the human races except the Redguards are from Atmora. So I say the equivalent is that the Nords are like the vikings who settled in Normandy and the Imperials are the vikings who started imperial Russia. The bretons are the ones who settled in the celtic countries and more or less became assimililated. Such as in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, it was an old viking port. The Redguards are Arabic because of the Scimitars.

Out of Atmora (07/10/08):

And for the last time (uh huh), Nedes != Atmorans. That's just shoddy scholarship from a bygone regime.

On the origin of Nedes

The usual Imperial arrogance. The hoary old "Out of Atmora" theory has been widely discredited (no reputable archaeologist would publicly support it these days), but the Imperial Geographers continue to beat the drum of the Nordic Fatherland in the best tradition of the Septim Empire. They seem to think that the imprimature of officialdom gives their outdated scholarship added weight -- which, unfortunately, it appears to in the eyes of the ever-gullible public which continues to snap up the latest Pocket Guides along with the rest of their Imperial Certified pablum. (HA)

The Nedes, which is to say the people that became the Bretons, and the humans that merged with the Nords to become the Impeirals after the Nords arrived from Atmora, are native to tamirel.

The only humans to come from Atmora are the Nords, and even THAT is disputed.

Please read your response to the tiny part you quoted from my post and feel silly about yourself.

I did, and I don't. Now please go talk to someone else.

Not one of these stupid f***ing threads again.

You said it, buddy.

Bretons - Anglo/Gallic people of Northern France and Southern Britain

(Caucasians with rounded features and a feudal culture similar that of Western Europe in the middle ages. Their names also tend to be British or French in origin.)

Nords - Viking people of Scandinavia and North Central Europe

(Tall Caucasians with pale skin and a Viking like culture. They have Nordic names commonly used in Scandinavian nations like Sweden and Denmark.)

Imperials - Romans of the Western Roman Empire

(Caucasians with pronounced features typical of Italian origin with Latin names and a military and government doctrine identical to Rome after the Republic.)

Redguards (Ra Gada) - Desert cultures of North Africa and the Middle East

(Dark skinned people with a desert culture, style of combat, attire, and names similar to those of the Numidians, Moors, Hittites, and Persians.)

Wood Elves (Bosmer) - Native American Tribes of Appalachia and the Eastern United States

(Subsistence living people with deep attachment to the land and a reclusive and slightly barbaric lifestyle.)

Dark Elves (Dunmer) - Japanese after the Sengoku Jidai

(Alien culture resisting and adapting western ideologies while struggling with internal strife that challenges long held tradition.)

High Elves (Altmer) - Ancient Imperial Chinese of the Tang Dynasty

(Historic and powerful culture with a strong sense of dominance over its own and its neighbors.)

Orcs (Orsimer) - Mongols from the steppes of Central Asia

(Nomadic barbarians with strong communal ties within tribes. Appear aggressive and savage to outsiders and relentless in battle.)

Argonians (Saxhleel) - Aztecs and Mayans of Central America and Mexico

(Mysterious spiritual culture practiced in a dark dense environment dangerous to outsiders. People are vulnerable to slavery by more advanced cultures.)

Khajiit - Peoples of Eastern and Southern Africa from the badlands of Ethiopia through the savannas of Kenya to the Kalahari Desert

(Culture based in semi arid to arid region with little unity and cooperation. People vulnerable to slavery and political influence from other cultures.)

now that i can agree with.

as for how i could compare imperials to americans for whoever asked so many posts ago. at first i was trying to use more modern examples as it seemed the op was doing or trying to, however as you can see i was having trouble making such comparisons while using modern cultures as i progressed. now attitude wise (as in the average sentiment of the imperial citizen or even imperial legionaries) they seemed to "act" or express themselves in an american tone. (not to be confused with accent or ideology)

and to the people who seem to be getting into a fight, could you cool your jets. i actually like having discussions here, i'd rather not have it degrade to a shouting match, even if there are dovahkiin here. lol

if you don't care for such a topic would you mind staying out of the thread and not posting just to tell us so. or you could explain your point of view politely if you like, I wouldn’t mind that.

The Bosmeri archery traits is the reason I compared them to the Welsh, nothing more. Wales produced the deadliest weapon in the british isles at that time, the longbow. Orcs don't fit mongols for me, certainly not after Genghis Khan changed them. They still strike me as either Gallic or Germanic tribesmen before the Roman dominance of europe. Apart from that you are spot on I think.
