Odd issue with custom armor

Both of my custom body armors have the same problem: when you equip large (vanilla) gloves or boots, for instance Imperial ones, the parts of the gloves or boots that extend over the arms and legs are cut off leaving a spiky edge of polygons.

 

How do I fix this? Does it have to do with BP_LEFTLEG and BP_RIGHTARM vertex groups?...
