Salt mines in skyrim

Ever wonder why you can buy salt find salt piles make salt piles a forges with mods but you can't mine salt from mines.

I was just wondering if someone could make a mod ( I have failed to be able to mod anything not enough brain power) that would put a couple salt mines in Skyrim.

a couple of iron mines could have the iron ore in it renamed salt. maybe the gems could be renamed salt crystals.

to make it even better the salt/ore/crystal could be crushed at a mill and change into salt piles or a bag of 10 salt like a sack or a coin purse.

its just one of the little things that bothers me. I like playing skyrim in as pure and realistic way as possible. like not selling my firewood for 5 gold when i can sell it for 1 gold. it's to

easy to make a killing haha the way pricing is in the game; but that is another story all together. thanks for the time and space. Peace be your journey.

Well... the dungeons can be easily constructed, but... adding everything else would be a scripting undertaking... I would also like to see this, but I have no clue how to create the script triggers for creating salt from raw salt that players would be mining.

Or alternately, they get their salt from seawater using salt ponds. Basically, sea water is poured into shallow pond basins where the sun and air can extract the water to increase the salt concentration. That water is then poured into other basins where it gets further evaporated and the sodium levels increase. Keep sending to more concentrated basins until at the end workers can just scoop the salt out of the water in baskets.

.

Note that during this process the basins are never allowed to go dry because then the salt would crystalize onto the ground where it would become difficult to harvest.

Alternatly, the salt water could be dumped into pans with a fire going to quickly evaporate the water to leave the salt. Obviously, using the above salt pond basins would decrease the amount of burning fuel needed to extract the salt.

In Skyrim, they could have some things setup to extract salt from seawater, most likely around Solitude since Winterhold and Dawnstar are freezing cold (though blowing air over a pan of salt water could extract the moisture from it as well). Dawnstar and Winterhold could use burning fuel to boil away the water to make salt as well... or the mages could use magically created fire for that.

I like the idea of a salt mine - you could retex the walls of a mine to have salt deposits. Then use the standard mining animation to get x number of units (pounds, ore, lumps, whatever) that can, as proposed by OP, be processed at a mill and converted into bags of salt.
