DaveCavemanjonez
I want to start modding, and am not sure if I need one of the mods or something completely different then a mod to make mods. Any suggestions or what has worked best from experience, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave
IsharaMeradin
You need the Creation Kit in order to make mods for Skyrim.Original Skyrim -- download through SteamSkyrim Special Edition -- download through Bethesda Launcher Once you've worked in the Creation Kit and have begun to understand how things work, then you can consider utilizing 3rd party utilities such as SSEEdit / TES5Edit. Papyrus is the name of the script engine used by the game. There are, however, some mods which extend the capabilities of Papyrus. FISS, Papyrus Util, SKSE to name a few. I am unsure if all of them have been ported to SSE, I know SKSE has and it is SKSE that you would most likely utilize.
Deleted3897072User
Get the CK and follow some tutorials. The papyrus script compiler comes with the CK - you don't need anything else to get going. Leave worrying about SKSE and plugins until you know how to do the basics. Start small and set aside about ten years. Not because it will take that long to learn, but because once you start creating mods, you won't want to stop ... BigBizkit
The best place to start, in my opinion, is to take a fairly simple mod that you like and open it up in the creation kit to see how it works. With papyrus scripts in particular, there is a lot that you can do just by changing properties - without having to understand papyrus or its syntax at all yet. That's how I got started.
