Knut Fritz
Hello everybody. I never played Oblivion or another Fallout title before...but Fallout 3 has come to my PC now, as it was the most promising title, when i had to choose between: FC2, Dead Space and BIA Hells Highway. And i was not disappointed! Good choice so far...BUT As many of you already wrote: there are missing a lot of things in gameplay, which make the game not as good, as it could/should be! One thing are missing weather-effects. First i thought, a change might come with the fall season, that there are more clouds, etc. But then i recognized, there no change at all! So i started to search the web for MODS and found this forum. After reading many posts about the missing WEATHER, i still have a few questions: - Is it possible to import the effects from Oblivion?- Is it instead possible to create effects on our own?- What can be changed most easily at the moment? (moving clouds, rain, snow, storms, etc.)- How complicated is it, to combine weather-effects and gameplay changes (rain increases rad, storms reduce AP and endurance, etc.) Thanks a lot for your thoughts on that! I recently modded a lot of games, mostly 2D/3D graphics. So if there are some hinds on my questions, i can also start to try on my own, but i need some guidance. w0t
I would think you need to get FOMM from timeslip.chorrol.com and edit the ESM for your weather effects. IIRC there is a weather record in there. :)
Circuitous
Dude... there's like no atmosphere left. Look above you, when's the last time you saw clouds above DC?
davidlheppner
Dude... there's like no atmosphere left. Look above you, when's the last time you saw clouds above DC? Well if you want to get into realism if that was the case then wouldn't the wastelands be at an ungodly temperature and all those puddles and the river would be dry, least thats what I think but if you didn't want normal weather at least dust storms, if you talk to a certain character in megaton you can find out that part of the reason they lived in a crater and built those super high walls was for protection from the dust storms. I also think acid rain would fit and maybe some really awful storms cause the atmosphere is so messed up. I think it would add to the world and make travel intresting sometimes. Least thats my 2 cents.

Least thats my 2 cents. I've yet to see a thermometer anywhere, but judging from the lighting, the scenery, etc. I'm willing to bet it's already unreasonably hot (and many people have adapted to it). As for everything drying... most of the "puddles" are little more than slime, the Potomac River isn't even half of what it used to be, etc. There are dust storms as well, just small ones (more like tornadoes really). Bigger ones would be cool. I'm with you on that.
Celice
Dude... there's like no atmosphere left. Look above you, when's the last time you saw clouds above DC?I see them tons now that I'm like 50 hours into the game. Sometimes I wonder why it hasn't started to rain yet. Knut Fritz
oha, nice to see the thread has come to live! thanks a lot for your thoughts on that. as i never played or modded oblivion, which is the former FO3 from its structure, i do not know where to start. that is what stops me from starting to mod it...even to make the sandstorms bigger, which would be quite a nice addition, is not possible for me. the fallout.ini has less information on that. where could it be stored? in the "misc.bsa"? i´ll have a look. maybe some oblivion-player can drop his thoughts about that here?! I just think there should be some weather affects, I have seen some clouds in the game but based on the terrain rain doesn't seem like something that would happen often, so maybe some rare acid/radiated rain on occasion some big dust storms. Can anyone think of any other weather affects that would fit with the way the area is portayed?
