Deleted2993601User
Today I decided it would be a fun idea to start a new game to play as a genocidal maniac. I killed literally everyone in Whiterun who can normally be killed, then I used the setessential command to kill the rest. Then I bumped into Mr Unkillable himself, or Jarl Balgruuf, which he's called in common tongue. It seems setessential has no effect whatsoever on him, the isessential command still throws back a 1. Are Jarls super-essential in the way they cannot absolutely be killed? I mean, it was possible to make a mod so the children could be killable, but Jarls? And why isn't setessential 0 working on them? I've googled a lot, but only came up with other threads discussing this, although they were from late '11 to early '12, and no real explanation as to why they are unaffected by setessential baseid 0 Edited October 30, 2012 by Guest
ThompsonIsMyName
Most probably due to the fact they are the MAIN characters, excluding you.I'd suppose Bethesda would've disabled that command on them due to their involvement in the majority of the main quest line.If you DID kill them, you wouldn't be able to finish the game, so I suppose you can only kill, using sword or command, people whose death in the game will not create a paradox-ish moment. I dunno. :) Edited October 30, 2012 by ThompsonIsMyName
The7Sins
I've killed him before using that command. Albeit it was after I won the Civil War for the Stormcloaks and decided to execute the traitor Jarls in the basement of the Blue Palace.
