Playing Fallout 3 Geriatric Style

I noticed there is a mod to play as a child, but is it possible to have an old-aged elderly character?

I suppose there isn't a console code like "SetPCOld" or something like that

From what I've seen, the console command "agerace" seems to work for both making the selected reference younger and older depending on if 1 or -1 was used. I would assume that unless age is setup entirely with just face textures, being old could be achieved in the same manner.

Makes me wonder. Since the Facegen in FO3 has much less options to customize your character, I wonder if it would be possible to add back in all of the same sliders that were in Oblivion's facegen. I assume the facegen hasn't changed much, so I wonder if you copied the slider names from the XML of Oblivion's facegen menus...would FO3 accept them?

If it did, you'd be able add the age slider back in. Although, it wouldn't make sense from the game's point of view since you're only supposed to be 19 when you leave Vault 101.

Nah, I don't think an age slider exists like it does in Oblivion. The reason why is because I noticed that there are separate texture files for "old" characters in FO3 located under Data/Textures/Characters/

I'm guessing that playing an old person isn't feasible yet without the CS? Then again, you are able to play as a child, but only because it is possible to hack your way out of your birthday party and outside the vault.

If they used the same Facegen SDK by Singular Inversion, they might customize it heavily. Or, perhaps they didn't use it. Since it's 'hardcoded', there's nothing we can do about that.

Wouldn't the same settings still be there though, even if they aren't exposed to the engine/player?

Someone should ask Bethesda. But once the CS is released, and since it has a facegen editor integrated, if the facegen editor in the CS has the same settings it did in Oblivion, then it should technically be possible to add the missing/removed sliders back into the Gene Projector so that all of the different sliders present in Oblivion would be present in FO3. Unless of course, like you said, it's hardcoded.

Actually, just bring up the console and type "player.agerace -1" and whammo! Instant kiddification. No need for using the console to unclip your way out of the vault.

Unless, of course, that there's something specific that applies to emerging from the vault as a child. I haven't found anything specific as of yet that would require this. Only testing a new character for this (adult with player.agerace -1 command) after hacking my second character out of the vault to run around as a child.
