hoofhearted4
so i was looking through my game collection. there are games i probably wont play again, there are games i havent even touched yet, and games i want to go back to eventually. Resistance 3 is one of those games i want to go back to. ive only played it through once (unlike my 5 or so runs on Resistance 2 lol) and that was right when it was released. ever since though ive wanted to do a hardcore coop run through of the game. now though, the game has been out for a year and im sure its dead now (especially because the game was good, but it wasnt great) so im coming here hoping to find someone with a PS3, with Resistance 3, interested in doing a hardcore coop run. now the one thing is, i do have a very limited schedule. im usually only on weekdays 10pm-1am EST. usually not weekends. its not a very large window of time, and it is at a very late time (depending on where you are i guess) add that to the fact im on a largely PC based forum, i understand if no one even responds to this. but i really hope someone does, because i would love to go through the game again! on Hardcore! with a friend! Rennn
Meh, does anyone happen to know how much R3 costs now? I had access to the beta, I thought it was better than R2, but I generally didn't like R2. The cooperative was great in Resistance 2, I played that a lot, but between the protag becoming Capelli (meathead imo) and the removal of the separate cooperative campaign I never got R3. I'll check the cost. If I can find it for sub $20 I'll probably buy it, since it is Resistance 3 and Resistance 1 is still my favorite shooter. I'll post back here if anything comes of it, as my schedule is completely open from like 6pm to 3am until next semester. Until I know for sure if I'm going to buy and/or like it I'm going to ask that others consider the original post to still be open. Edit: Found it on Amazon for $13. That's pretty good. It still remains to be seen whether I'll actually like it once I get it. Edited November 1, 2012 by Rennn
hoofhearted4
here is my opinion on it Renn it may contain spoilers but ill try to limit anything big. Resistance 3 NEEDED the coop from R2. no question about it. it was a huge mistake leaving it out. as far as the story goes its just meh. switching to Capelli was kinda stupid. youd been with Hale through two games and killing him off was stupid. hes barely brought up in R3 from what i can remember. only mentioned. he really had nothing to do with R3 at all. its almost as if R3 was unrelated and was a fresh start to a new series (though we now know Insomniac said that would be the last Resistance title). they left a lot of plotholes. didnt really explain the Pure Chimera. didnt get into why the chimera left earth in the first place. Daedalus wasnt talked about (again going from memory) just a lot of loose ends. that said, the game play itself wasnt bad. the whole "upgrade weapons the more you use them" was kind of cool. and it played a lot like the other Resistance titles. again ive only played it once through, so i dont remember too much about story and whatnot, but yea, as far as Resistance goes, comparing R3 to the other two (and even the PSP title) R3 was sort of a let down to anyone who was interested in the story. as i said it felt more like it would be the first in the series and not so much the last, or even a continuation. Rennn
After thinking about it more, I can't justify buying another game with college expenses. Sorry, hopefully someone else takes you up on this.
hoofhearted4
thats too bad. i honestly dont think anyone else will be posting considering its been a few days with quite a ton of views lol. i didnt think it would since it was about a year old game on a console and this is a PC based forum. but who knows. its in the interwebs, so this thread will be here for all time for someone to reply to :P
Rennn
Well... It's Resistance 3. I'm sure I'll buy it at some point, I'm just not sure when. Whenever I do end up getting it, I'll message you and see if you're still interested, don't hold your breath though. I did just see a copy on Ebay for $8 with free shipping... It's kind of hard to pass on that. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Rennn
Okay, I lost the copy on Ebay, but I found a copy at my local Gamestop for a similar price and bought that. So I'm now beginning a playthrough on normal as 'practice'. If that doesn't completely disappoint I'll be set for a hardcore cooperative campaign. I'll message you to iron out details when I finish the game on normal, my guess is it'll take a day or two. hoofhearted4
hey great Renn! as i said, the gameplay itself is pretty fun, and (at least to me) coop is almost always fun, so the two together should make a pretty fun playthrough i think....the only thing you MAY be disappointed in is the story, which unfortunately was a huge draw for the Resistance series. but ya, lmk what you think and hopefully we can start a Hardcore coop run through.....you first run through will also help get your weapons leveled up. most of mine are already maxed or close (which happens from just one play through)
hoofhearted4
just as a little piece of info for anyone who ever reads this; to no big surprise, the online multiplayer is absolutely dead. its unfortunate as it was actually quite fun. i played it for a bit when the game first came out, but it had some major lag problems. i remember stopping for a bit and hearing the fixed it shortly thereafter. i did go on just for a bit when i heard that to see if it was true, and it was, they fixed the lag problems, but by then BF3 had come out and although i didnt get it, i knew the online wouldnt last long (for R3 that is). now, 1 year later, the online is dead. i regret not going back on when the lag was fixed, because as i said, it was actually really fun! i sat in a matchmaking queue for a bit just to see. a few players did join, but that was it. and of the two or three i saw join, they would leave after a minute or so.....too bad. this actually makes me sad. part of me had hoped maybe something was still active. oh well.
