Michlo
It got a pretty good review in PC Gamer and seems rather popular here so I'm going to give it a whirl this weekend. :) Cheers.
Ject67
Well you just made a great choice of games, your gonna love this action RPG game :D. It's a bit tricky though even on easy, but that's probably because I don't play fps games.
macmert
my guess is you didnt play fallout 1 or 2 right? I suggest you play those first, they were far better than fallout 3... They are a bit dated (like 10 years heh) but unfortunately F3 doesnt really meet up the expectations of the hard core Fallout fans... the game looks incredible, sounds great, feels great but a bit easy especially if you use the VATS system for fighting... Dont get me wrong F3 is a great game, I play it for hours but it is a bit Oblivionish Fallout... Well you dont look in the mouth of a gift brahmin  But give it a try you are going to love it, I literally cried the first time I stepped out of the vault... I never imagined that the world could be that savage and barren and destroyed...
Skotte
@Michlo: I am curious as to hear your impression of F3 (monday?) Personally, I'm waiting for walmart to sell a "shirtless" version of the PC Collector's edition so I have a chance to get it in-store.
Michlo
Thanks for the replies and sure, I'll share my impressions next week. :) Macmert, I'd rather not take your suggestion of playing the first two else I run the risk of feeling as you and the others do about this third one. :) I think I'm at an advantage in not having done so. Cheers.

Michlo
As promised, here is my post on what I've thought of Fallout 3 so far. First off, I really like it. I don't know why I ever thought I wouldn't. I think because I expected it to be more humerous rather than the serious sense it does have. I have had a couple of issues, as posted in the tech support forum. The flickering faces one was fixed with the nhancer program (for nVidia) but being unable to use VATS still isn't. I don't mind though as I prefer staying in first person. As a long time Oblivion fan I definitely see the hand of Bethesda at work here and I still don't care for the interface we always have to pop up (just as in Oblivion) but I love the look and feel of the world. I really enjoyed that we start off as an infant! That was rather novel. I rather wish there had been more of a story with the other residents before we leave but I'm sure I'll be finding plenty more than I already have out in the wasteland. So there you go, not much of a review, just more an answer about whether or not I liked it in the end. :) I would definitely recommend it to RPG fans. Oh and one final question, does anybody know how we are supposed to put away guns? It is rather irritating that it is the same button to reload a weapon as to put it away. So far I've been having to switch to a melee weapon, put it away and then switch to the gun for when I need to pull it out. Cheers.

Yes, it is naturally hated by all the fallout purists, but I think if you go back and play the original fallouts, well, I just personally think that F3 beats them, for all it's bugs and simplicities in some areas of dialog the scope is just massive. and I really do like old black isle. It's just not a sequel. being unable to use VATS Hell, I couldn't play this without VATS...hard to aim otherwise.
macmert
Hold the reload button to holster your weapons, also hold the pipboy button to turn on the pipboy light... I learned these features really late in the game :) I agree that fallout III is not a sequel, if you try the game with an objective perspective, the game is really good... There are some minor issues that needs clearing out really, like the child murder, lvl cap (both solved thanks to modders :)) but if you compare them to the previous fallouts, I think fallout II was the best of it... I never forget playing Tragic the Gathering :) or Harold the Ghoul :D or having a car and it was being hijacked in new reno (I guess) I think instead of comparing them, we should enjoy every one of it seperately :D but fallout III has some real issues with sneaking and stealth kills... These issues should really be sorted out...
