pmalacha
Hi guys. Yesterday my Skyrim was at 1.7.7 and I could happily play it. Now it's 1.8.15 (I'm presuming Steam auto update, which I was so sure I switched off... :wallbash: ). I would very much like to revert to 1.7.7, but I don't really know how, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

pmalacha
Bad news possibly... I just got CTD wanting to exchange items with faithful Lydia. It never happened before. I hope it's an odd one! I just want to revert to 1.7.7 for safety, as it was working perfectly fine :/
stabbykitteh
In Windows 7, If you right click on the TESV.exe in your Skyrim folder. you should see an option to revert to a previous version. You'd also need to put Skyrim in Offline mode to keep it from updating again. Not entirely certain how well it works, having not tried it myself, but have read that others have had success reverting this way. So, take it for what it's worth (hearsay). edit: http://www.giantbomb.com/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61-33394/way-to-revert-to-earlier-version-here-windows-7-pc-version/35-526741/
Georgiegril
Just FYI the revert to previous version requires that you backed up your computer so that the previous version exists on an available backup file.
pmalacha
Thanks for your help guys. I am however pretty sure I've switched off back ups on my Win7 too... Time to live with it I guess. I was actually getting more CTDs while playing last night. It seemed really random and I could not determine which mods are possibly causing issues. I didn't have time to properly investigate this either. ginnyfizz
Yes you actually need the Update.esm and Update.bsa from the previous version as well.

Unfortunately you do need to have System Restore turned on... It could simply be that a couple of your mods just need to be updated. The CK is usually (knock on wood) updated within a few days of patch release, so hang tight. If you're running the Unofficial Patches, those have already been updated, so maybe start there. Sorry not more help...
pmalacha
That's ok, no worries. I presume that mods will start to be updated shortly. SKSE and Community Uncapper already are up to date. I recently removed unofficial patches, but now when you say they're up to 1.8 I may install them again and see if the CTDs persist. Thanks for your input! Kywire
I don't have my pc set to create backups, so reverting to 1.7 by using previous versions is a no go for me. Is there any other way to do it by replacing the right .esms and .bsas? I already tried replacing the update.esm with one from 1.7, but my game still shows that it is version 1.8. Any help in understanding which files need to be replaced, or if it is even possible to roll the game back would be greatly appreciated.
