Cannot launch with NMM running/mods

Ok, so I got the game up and running, got it off Amazon and trough steam. Installed DSfix and I have the enableextureoverride set to 1. When I go to launch the game, if crashes right after the attempt. It loaded when I had first installed it and I played a bit without the NMM running and no mods going. Not sure what I am missing here, but the reason I got the PC version was to enjoy the mods, lol. Any help with this is appreciated.

*EDIT* Tried running the game again without NMM on and it still won't launch. "Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition executable has stopped working"

I am sure I am over-thinking this and it's probably something very simple, but I cannot for the life of me get this to work.

Not sure if it matters but this is being launched through Steam, I have no game dvd.

Again, any help is appreciated.. ^__^

I've tried running as admin, and I am using Windows 8 64bit as well. Like I said, it ran perfect before I downloaded NMM and dsfix, but now I can't get it to launch with or without NMM and the mods on. I deleted all the dsfix items and mods, re-installed and am getting the same thing.

Thank you for your time and consideration ^__^

Uninstalled, re-installed without NMM, DSfix, or anything, and it's doing the same thing. Something is wrong, lol. I will post my findings soon, hope this will help others that have the issue. I tried messing with the darkouls.ini as well in all sorts of configs before uninstalling, and nothing worked there either.

OK, well I am posting this here in case some other poor sap has this happen to them, in hopes that they might be able to garner some sort of help here in this community. I know with these things a lot of time the "fix" is like some sort of crazy secret, and that you must be some sort of total newb if you can't figure it out on your own. The way I figure, this is a mod "community" where one might be able to get help using the mods, even if they don't develop them. Appreciation is the end result of that hard work, right?

Might have been easier for me to have gotten help if I had posted more info, but I was assuming I had provided plenty as was, chalk that up to me still being green in the PC mod realm.

Anyways, what I had done is go through VaatiVidya/NWKS's list of must-do's on the 60fps/GFWL page. I had figured with the previous clean uninstall with the same issue at re-install without the dsfix or anything else must be leading to GFWL. I uninstalled the client and the program (found under MICROSOFT Games for Windows Live in your control panel), uninstalled (yet again) DS from Steam. I installed a fresh copy of GFWL then installed DS from Steam again. I left GFWL alone seeing as how the game launched and played a bit to see if the mods I was running were going to show or not. So, I slew the vendor for his Uchigatana, and it's Yoshimitu-green, just like Dark-Weller's mod said it'd look like (GORGEOUS!), proceeded to go grab the Elite Knight Set, and when I put it on, it is amazingly dark and black, a-la MochikunDS's mod (again, AWESOME!).

So, all in all, looks like I am playing with GFWL (I can deal with it I guess) and have my mods running. Not sure if I can run the GFWL blocker and have the game launch (no idea how that works) and with my luck I'd be back to square one again. If someone wants to say otherwise and point me in the right direction, then please do, by all means, any and all help is appreciated.

Steps taken:

Uninstall GFWL client and program from control panel

Unistall DS

Reboot

Install all the goodies from VaatiVidya/NWKS guide (Netframework 4.0, DX drivers, MS Vis C++2010)

Clean install of GFWL from Microsoft page

Re-install of DS

Re-apply DSfix

Re-apply mods

Launch

....and enjoy them mods! ^__^

Hope this can serve as help to someone in the future...
