Moving Vortex Mod Installs to 2nd Computer

Hello all,

 

Apologies if this has been covered before, I haven't been able to find a complete answer through googling yet.

 

I've recently finished installing mods into Skyrim Special Edition on my laptop, and I'm hoping to get the same profile running on my PC as well.

 

Based on the "Moving Vortex Setup to New Computer" article I found within Vortex, the steps involved would be:

- Install Vortex on new computer

- Close Vortex, copy downloads folder from old computer to new computer, restart Vortex

- Manually reinstall mods, reconfigure file conflict rules, etc.

 

On my laptop SSE and Vortex are both installed on the C: drive, but on my PC I have SSE installed on a separate D: drive, which would require the mod staging folder to also be on the D: drive.

 

Will the difference in staging folder cause issues if I intend to reinstall mods on the new device?

No, provided you tell Vortex in advance where the new mod staging folder is located.

So, set up vortex as I have in the past(creating a new staging folder on the D: drive) and the mods should install fine?

That's correct. But be sure to go into Vortex settings, specify the Mod Staging Folder directory, and let Vortex set it up for you.
