Skodmunk
Hello, I would like to know if anyone has a way to make weapons swap instantly ?Also I figure if the weapons can be swapped fast it would be nice to NOT have them reload when swapped. I have looked in the ini file, cheat codes and MOD's. But I have found nothing, if anyone knows something about this I would like to know
TheRealLordSanta
You have hotkeys for weapons, inventory items, etc. Just hold down keys 1-8 whilst in inventory screen and the item/weapons selected will automatically bind to that specific key

I've played the game for 70+ hours and never realized this. What a time saver! I even read the manual; -1 reading comprehension grade for me. Anyway, kudos to you Lord_Santa, thanks for the tip! Skodmunk
You have hotkey's for weapons, inventory items, etc. Just hold down keys 1-8 whilst in inventory screen and the item/weapons selected will automatically bind to that specific key yes, that is true but is not what i'm looking for.I am trying to figure out how to swap instantly, the way it works right now it takes maybe 3 seconds (for the PC) to swap from gun to melee or from gun to gun. Maybe its because they have made animations for the characters when swapping weapons. But I don't care about that, I play the game FPS style  Here's an example of why I want it changed:I spot a raider and deside's to attack, I have my laser pistol and my baseball bat. So I want to shoot him up a bit while charging in on him, but when I reach an distance from from the target where the laser pistol has even a remote chance of hitting him, I have to change to the bat (since it takes about 3 seconds to change weapon) if I want to be effective when getting in close.Tha'ts the way it works right now and I don't like it, it really puts an limitation on how to play the game. The "reloading on weapon swap" isn't something that I really, really need removed. But it would be nice to have it out of the game.
mikekearn
Well the reason it is in the game is realism; it takes time to put away one weapon and pull out another. Reloading, on the other hand, is done automatically when you switch weapons, I though. At least for me, if I take a couple shots with my hunting rifle, switch out to my shotgun for up close work, and pull out my rifle again to take out the next guy down the road, it is already back at 5 bullets loaded. So I'm not sure I get what you are asking there.
Circuitous
Weapons are reloaded when equipped.
Slugworld
In the old Fallout 2 you could switch weapons within VATS, however it would cost around 3-5 AP (depending on perks). I think the delay between weapon switching is required personally. Perhaps a mod could be created where it looks at the quantity of the players inventory and appropriately determines how long it takes for weapons to be equipped. E.G Small inventory, weapons are equipped more quickly. Large inventory, weapons take longer to equip.
sockgangsta
I think what would help is a button for meleeing while holding a gun, like how in most FPS games there is a button to melee someone. I dunno. Having a button to do that might negate most melee weapons though.
Dr Rex
Lord_Santa, Thanks amigo, I also did not know about setting hot keys. Thanks man.
Circuitous
In the old Fallout 2 you could switch weapons within VATS, however it would cost around 3-5 AP (depending on perks). Fallout 2 did not have VATS. In Fallout 2, however, accessing your inventory in combat cost 4 AP (2 with the Quick Pockets perk), and in it you could: - reload guns- use stimpaks or any other chem- equip armor/guns- anything else you could do from the inventory. You could have two weapons (or one weapon and unarmed, or one weapon and a chem/trap/whatever) equipped. Swapping between them cost no AP.
