Vektor3
I have the Jade mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22225) and was just wondering how I might go about taking away the tattoos and scarring. I'm not opposed to editing in Photoshop if that's necessary, I just wouldn't know where to look. Thanks in advance.
StormWolf01
Hi Vektor! First off, there's two different types of mods at that link. There are json presets, which are used by LooksMenu. And then there are .esp files for the companions, which are used by the game itself. json presets are difficult to interpret, and edit, due to the fact most of it, isn't labeled. So it's hard to know WHAT you're changing, when you're changing it. However. 3 things.1) Tattoos aren't part of the preset, as files included with the preset. So as long as they're not vanilla tattoos, if you don't install the mod that has the tattoos as options for looksmenu, they won't show up on the character.2) Really good news. Most tattoos aren't part of the actual texture. They're what are called overlays, which is an additional layer, that is applied over the skin texture, by looksmenu. Granted, there ARE skins out there, that have tats already on them, but it's all up to individual choice as to whether to use those particular skins or not.3) The scars are easy to remove in character creation. Or via LooksMenu. You simply click on the Extras and then choose Damage and then uncheck them. You can change the looks of a character, by editing their character file. You can do this for the esp files either via bethesda's Creation Kit (CK) which you can download thru steam. Or via FO4Edit (Xedit) here on the nexus. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737/They are listed as skin tints in Xedit, and once you've got the files open you can choose to delete them from there. json presets by themselves, are difficult to edit, as I said. However, all you have to do is create the character and play it til you get a save file. Once you have the save file, you can use faceripper https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3878 and either CK or Xedit to create an esp file that you can save the preset to. Then edit it again in either of the above.
Vektor3
Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed response. That's amazing. Thank you. I'm happy to report that I managed to alter my character's facial features. It turns out I just missed the "Extras" option. And I apologize. I should have mentioned I was using the LooksMenu Preset. As it turns out, I'm having difficulty with the Modular Vault Jumpsuit CBBE mod as well. (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30022) I'm using the All DLCs V1.2 version, along with the All DLCs Texture Addon. (I haven't installed the Half-zipped mesh fix or the Barefoot Footstep compatibility patch V1.1 because I'm not using either one of those. But when it comes in, the model doesn't look right. But it looks fine in BodySlide. The boots don't even come in at all. I did have a couple of other vault suit mods I had installed. Specifically, Slooty Vault Jumpsuit (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8233) and Slooty Vault Suit Replacer - CBBE with BodySlide (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16860) So if I had to guess, it looks like the vanilla vault suit with the texture add-on from the replacer. I've uninstalled both, but now I'm just left with the vanilla suit. The modular one doesn't change anything now, even after reinstalling it. Any ideas what else might be going on there? Thank you again so much for responding. I'm learning so much! Edited December 14, 2019 by Vektor3
StormWolf01
Heyas Vektor! LOL No problem at all :)And I'm glad to hear that you got it to your liking. Not a problem, I usually just try to cover all bases at once, when doing troubleshooting. That, and I do a lot of tinkering with NPC preset esps, myself. HAHAHAHA!! That's hillarious that you mention the problem that you're having with the modular jumpsuit! I'm having problems with it too! But at least your's looks reasonable! I'm using the unzipped version, and this poor girl looks like she's just barely hit puberty. And her parents starve her!Essentially, I'm thinking that the file(s) that came with it, are set with all the sliders set for 0. And for whatever reason, Bodyslide isn't able to replace those files, or the files are put in a folder that bodyslide doesn't use, in game.Granted, I only started playing with it a few nights ago, and I probly only put in about an hour or so of game time, every other day. But, I'm thinking, what I'm probly gonna try, is to figure out what, and where the bodyslide file is for it, remove the one(s) that came with it once I figure out what they are, and then replace it/them with ones that I've made for other vault suits, test it in game, and then make whatever changes to the sliders that I need to. And then see if that works.I'm actually realllllly new to using bodyslide, so hopefully somebody who knows more about it will see it and post about the problem, before I get around to actually....doing work....when I'd rather just be shooting the (the other four letter word for poop) outta stuff. ;) :DI'll get around to checking into it eventually, cuz there's a couple of other vault suits that I need to change from the distro files too, and batch build isn't working on them. I am thinking tho, that the distro files, may also be using the thin body type as default, and that we need to switch it over to thick, curvy, or whatever build we're using on our characters. StormWolf01
Hey Again! Ok, so I wanted to test this out, before I posted back about what you'd said about it looking like a regular vault suit, and about the boots.I kinda thought that this was the case, but I wanted to test it out to be sure before I said anything.K, be ready for one of these-Equip the suit, after you craft it at a chem bench, then head to an armor bench. The options for the different shoes, different zip styles, and different color styles are all there in the crafting menu for the suit ;) If they are not there for the suit, while you're wearing it, there may be a mod conflict, or load order conflict. Still haven't worked on the whole bodyslide thing for them yet tho. Hope this helps some :)-Storm

Vektor3
(Sorry, it double-posted. This editor is really janky.) Wow. That's cray that you were working on the Modular Vault Jumpsuit CBBE mod too. Good job getting it to go though! I'm super new to BodySlide as well, but I'm a 3d artist, so at least I have that going for me.I eventually gave up on the mod. I tried everything. I uninstalled all jumpsuit related mods. I manually installed it. I even dressed in drag and did the hula. Still nothing. Maybe I'll go back and try your method though just to see. I did find an alternative which, in all reality, I should have discovered and been using in the first place. The Unzipped Vault Suit - CBBE - Bodyslide - AWKCR. I installed it with the Replacer Version. I also installed the Proto Vault Suit mod (Shadow Hexa 1.2) just to recolor it. (Very cool.) It all worked very well, I now have the suit in the game, and I'm very happy with it. I did try installing the Unzipped and Zipped Vault Suit Bodyslide with Physics Body Files mod for it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it in the game. Unzipped Vault Suit said you could craft them at an AWKCR armor crafting station, so I tried that, but it doesn't seem to be there (and neither do the Physics ones.) They do show up in BodySlide though as "Unzipped Vault Suit - Physics 2" and "Unzipped Vault Suit Replacer - Physics 2", so I'm not sure what to do now. When I go to craft the armor station, in addition to the vanilla armor crafting station, there are two "Armorsmith Workbenches" by fadingsignal, another by Gambit77, Aldebaran90, and Stndmunki, another one attributed to no one, and one called "Armour" (with the British spelling.) So maybe I crafted the wrong one? I have no idea. And I don't know how to get the code to spawn the physics vault suit in-game. Maybe if I'm feeling frisky, I'll go craft all five and see if they don't have different things. If not, at least I have the outfit. Edit: nm. I hadn't actually built the physics version in BodySlide.I think it's working now. Edited December 14, 2019 by Vektor3
StormWolf01
Heyas Vektor! Ok, short answer, and I'm sorry. Got a broken hand, and it's pretty sore at the moment. After installing awkr, there's now two types of armor and weapon benches. The awkr armorsmith workbench, and the awkr weaponsmith workbench. These confused me at first. But the awkr benches are ONLY for making items that have been made available to be crafted in those benches. In other words, they're like Chemistry stations, that make guns, or armor. The regular armor bench, and weapon bench, are where you modify the weapons/armor. Its the regular armor bench, where the modifications for the suit are at. ;) Yeah, I'd had a lot of experience with Poser/DAZ3d before. So the whole idea of morphs and sliders isn't all that new to me. And since they're derived from that system, it wasn't that hard to adjust to. It's the whole thing about other characters using same settings, having to batch build, or even have to remove certain pieces from bsa files, mod them, then repack them, finding out what kind of files the bodyslide makes, and where it puts them.... that's the work for me. :( That's good to hear! I'm glad that you got it going! :)Hopefully, I'll get to mine sometime this weekend.
Vektor3
Dude! So sorry to hear about your busted hand! I broke my wrist a while back, so I feel (or felt) your pain. I'm still working out AWKR atm, but I think I understand. My character's not really to the point yet of making many modifications and upgrades, so I'll have to see when I get there. If I can't figger it out, I'll come bug you about it. Oh, that's so cool that you know Poser and Daz Studio. I'm currently in the process of getting my first character on their store, so that'll be cool. But I create pretty much all of my work in 3d Studio Max which I've been doing for longer than I'd care to admit. I'm nowhere near batch builds, bsa files, or any of that in BodySlide though. I think that's well beyond my scope. So here she is in all her glory on top of the Corvega Assembly Plant tower. (Sorry, I forgot to take the cheesy glasses off.) StormWolf01
Heya Vektor! Well, I appreciate that! Thanks! And congrats on gettin over yours!Eh, I get the cast off in a week or two, and that's the part that's causing the most trouble now. The chaffing, the rubbing, the itching, the Oh god, that smell.... hahaha ya know how it is! ;) I guess the best way to describe the awkr benches, is that theyre kinda like miniature assembly plants. You stick a bunch of parts in, it gives you a completed part back. Or maybe like a store. They've got the inventory, but you gotta pay them in parts, to buy what you're wanting. LOL you're in for a whooooole 'nother world of fun once you start modifying your gear. I wanna do this, I wanna do that! Crud, I need this perk level, and that perk level, and where did I leave those springs??? It really is a lot of fun. Time consuming sometimes, but definitely a lot of fun.And heck yeah, if ya got questions, just ask ;)Nicely done image! It looks good! Kinda makes me think of that old song "I wear my sunglasses at night". LOL no I'm totally kidding. Yeah, there's times I forget that kinda thing too.The outfit came out really well. Are those leather pauldrons vanilla, or from a mod?I gotta admit it's amazing how much different they look in the game compared to in the editor. That looks really good. Oh wow, you're a modeler! That is awesome! I'm kinda jealous, I've always wanted to dabble in it, but just.... well ya know how it is. No, that's awesome! I hope that goes really well!
