How do you alter character mod textures?

Fortunately, I had a removable cast, so I guess I don't really feel your pain. So sorry to hear that. Although, I did break my other arm when I was a kid, so I do kinda remember it.

Yeah, I'm starting to dabble in the workbenches some. Mostly hurry-up-and-waiting til I get the materials I need. Same with building up the settlement. It all seems so daunting and overwhelming! The perks alone were overwhelming enough. So is which weapon to choose.

Based on my stats, I have a lot of my perks planned out up past level 50. I'm sort of min-maxing, so it's giving me some better stuff early like Ninja, Nerd Rage, and Gun Fu. Of course, at the expense of some of the other perks.

The leather pauldrons on my character are vanilla with a retexture (I think.) I don't really add too many mods that aren't graphic-related. They're called Braced Hardened Light Raider Left Arm (0018E411), and Strengthened Hardened Light Raider Right Arm (0018E413). (Sorry the tags are just for the unmodified parts. I don't know how to get the "Braced", "Hardened", or "Strengthened" parts.) I have Eli's Armour Compendium, SavrenX HD DLC Armor and Clothes, SavrenX HD Vanilla Armor, and WX Clothing and Armor - WIP. (Please don't make fun of me if those all totally overlap. I really don't know what I'm doing.) Yeah, stuff can get to looking kinda purdy in the game with the lighting overhauls and such. I'm still experiencing the different weather types. I literally just logged into the game and thought something was wrong because everything looked sort of washed-out. Then I looked closer and said, "Where the hell did all of this fog come from?!?" lol

Yeah, I do modeling, but I'm a 'generalist', so I do texturing, lighting, animating, and rendering as well. I haven't ever really done anything for a game though. (I have worked in the video-game industry before, but I was only doing the animating there.) Once I saw that they were using 3ds Max for game assets, I went, "Ooh! I can do that!" so I modeled a statue of a gargoyle and put it in the middle of a town in Morrowind once just to do it, but I don't think that really counts. Maybe it's time I made something for Fallout or Skyrim...

LOL, I'm seeing a common trend here, Vektor. Yeah, this isn't my first break either. # 8 to be exact. Some have had casts or splints, others haven't. But yeah, I appreciate the understanding! :)

Oh yes, they way that they have this set up with both perk requirements, and with material requirements, really makes crafting a long reaching goal. Especially since some of those perks have level requirements. Or stat level requirements. Some of which, like in building settlements, have almost NO OTHER FUNCTION, other than being a requirement for the settlements!

There are of course, mods that allow you to get around that, if you eventually get fed up with it, and want to cheat your way past it, like so many of us do ;D

Basically, braced, hardened, all of that, is added to the armor via attachments to it. Modifications. Braced is a modification that reduces the amount of scope sway, when you're using the scope on a rifle or pistol. It's some that the game added to it, when you picked it up, or was added by an armor mod, or was added to it at an armor workbench.

Well, they look good! I like them!

I'll check out those mods a bit later. Thanks for taking the time to look them up and give links! Much appreciated!

If some of them are load order specific, and I can tell that by looking at them, I'll let ya know.

HAHAHAH! Yeah, I've experienced that too. It was a case where I went afk for a while, had my character crouched in sneak mode, with a chameleon camoflage active. I came back, looked at my screen and my character looked like complete drek! I was like whaaaaat? Oh. Radstorm had set in. Duh. HAHAHA.

Well, you're definitely further ahead than I am. When it comes to the 3d stuff, I can tinker with a few settings here or there, but mostly, I just play with the toys other people were nice enough to provide.

That's really cool. Yes, that does count. As far as adding stuff to F04, it's a bit of a learning curve, but it's still fun!

Eight breaks!?! Wth are you doing?!?

Well, they've definitely set it up for multiple playthroughs. I'm already thinking about two or three other builds I'd like to try. ...And different choices I'd like to make. ...And different mods I'd like to try. lol But yeah, I agree that certain stat or perk level requirements for the sole purpose of being a requirement for settlements is more than a bit inane. I'm so silly that I don't cheat. I don't even fast-travel. I wish I did. Would save me SO much time. I only ever 'cheat' to either fix something or even something out. ie: I respecced my character after I found out what the perks were because they don't tell you about them when you're making your character.

Okay, I think I get all the 'braced', 'hardened', etc. That's leading to some pretty long names though. :teehee:

Yeah, I've been doing 3d longer than I'd care to admit. It's definitely the kind of thing I'd do whether I was getting paid or not. I have a couple of characters done for Daz, and they've accepted them, so I just have to learn how to pack them up because I've never done that before. After that though, maybe I'll start trying to learn how to do some modding.

Oh, here's a thing. Any idea what this is?

I found it in the back of a train car, and it just looks entirely too pointed to be something arbitrary. Does it have anything to do with the game, or is it just a retexture artist's signature or something?

Heya Vektor - Ok, that symbol that you found. It's what's called a Railroad sign. I can explain it further, but I don't know if you want the spoilers are not. So for now, I'll just say that you can find out more about them, depending on what paths you take in the game. Hint: depending on which factions you join.

The 8 breaks.... I'm trying to beat Jacky Chan's record. LOL no, just kidding. No way I'd want to break as many bones as he has!

LOL yeah, that's definitely one of the pleasures and the agonies, of this game. Different builds, different playstyles, and different paths to explore. It's definitely a lot of fun and challenging, but playing vanilla, a lot of work too. Not that there's anything wrong with vanilla. I can most definitely appreciate that you enjoy the challenge.

Yes! The naming system for this game is in serious need of revamping. It gets even worse, once you start picking up tons of items with legendaries on them.

If you've got good eyes, and dont mind really small text, here's a mod you might like. It forces the inventories to show the full name. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/425 rather than only showing part of it.

I think I said it before, but yeah, I've always been jealous of you guys that can create and mold the 3d models. As a former pencil and paper artist, I know that it's a love that is hard to put away. It becomes a passion and sometimes an obsession LOL :D

Okay, cool. Thanks for not spoiling the railroad sign thing for me. I just needed to know if it was a thing or not.

Yeah, I've already gotten some pretty small text from some items. I can't imagine it getting much smaller, so I'm sure the '...' is in my near future.

I actually started out as a pencil and paper artist. I wish I had the time to get back to it from time-to-time, but I don't.

Enjoy your holidays!

Heya Vektor! yeah, it was nice getting outta the house for a while :) Thanks! :)

Ok, my bad, I'm sorry that I gave you the wrong idea. The no dot dot dot mods will make the text even smaller, because it has to crunch all the letters into a visible line. I really wish there was a mod that did a better job of naming these items. Especially the weapons and armor.

Right on! Yeah, It's something that I really should get back into also, but just never have.
