dhague2cfo
After running XCOM-UE for over two weeks without any problems with ZoneAlarm Extreme Security (latest version), Suddenly ZoneAlarm declared some Steam files as "Trojans" and 'ate them'! I don't know if this was a result of a Steam update or a ZoneAlarm update. I did not think much of the Steam Support suggestion to 'just disable your protection software' when you want to run Steam. Steam would not even re-install as ZoneAlarm would eat the files right out of the install program. It took a bit, but I eventually figured out which files were the problem and excluded them from ZoneAlarm checking (see below). This situation did force me to re-install all my games (just love 10 hours of downloading), so I mention this problem here in the hope of saving someone else some pain! The Steam files that my ZoneAlarm saw as Trojans are: ...\Steam\vstdlib_s.dll ...\Steam\AppOverlay.dll
Daimond007
I run the standard version, never have had that problem of removing the files or such. I do have the problem though that steam seems to keep getting around the fire wal right after I change the exe file to test a mod, I would have to load Xcom, then log out and re-deny the exe then play as normal. The last few days now steam seems to get around it some times with out ajusting the exe :(
ScriptSyntaX
Hi 1) you do not "need" steam to play online.. use Tunngle 2) using resource hogs like antivirus/firewalls software while playing games is a bad idea and result in bad fps & cpu pointless overloads. if you are scared of viruses or something scan your pc online using trend micro housecall once a week and don't fall victim to the whole antivirus company "scare tactic schemes" to sell their retail products to the masses, also "software firewalls" have many flaws & not as good as having a decent Hardware Router that doesn't require a memory resource on your box.
