Skip Going to the Dawnguard to start the Dawnguard DLC

Was thinking that someone, with more programming knowledge than me (I barely can do simple things in BASIC. >.< ) , could do a quick and dirty Vampire Start for the Dawnguard DLC. Simple, on hearing about the Hall of the Vigilant has been attacked, a small quest starts that points you to the Hall, and on finding a book - Brother Adalvald's journal - it will end the mini quest and start Awakening, thus skipping the quest Dawnguard. Because, like, why would a vampire walk into the lair of a vampire hunter alone unless they are suicidal or insane, ya know? So this will skip having to go there and get on with Dimhollow Crypt and the rest of the DLC for vampires.

A more proper way would be a copy of Awakening that has the objectives reworded for better immersion that will be started on picking up the journal and, when it ends, will trigger Bloodlines like Awakening would have. But I am not going to be picky at this point. Been waiting for years for someone, anyone, to do a vampire start for Dawnguard. :(

Yeap, that should work, I used "setstage" to start Awakening and it's purring along nicely without having to go to the Dawnguard. So, just need someone with coding skills to create a book that triggers stage 10 of Awakening and leave it at the Hall of the Vigilants with a small quest to push vampires there to start Dawnguard.

Completed the run of Dawnguard with no hiccups except of my own making. I "Unrelenting Force" ed Serana off the balcony when I used it on Vyrthur and broke the quest. Beyond that, my idea will work, if anyone is up for a little programming and quest writing?

Well, Alternate Start - Live another life (which requires a new game and cannot be done on a current game) allows you to pick any faction, home, army, of your choice. Specifically in your case, You CAN pick to start immediately in the Dawnguard quest AND pick which side you're on. And if you'd picked to Valkahir's side you WILL automatically start AT Castle Valkahir AS A Vampire Lord with most of the first few quests already completed (which WILL be logged into your character journal on the quest tab of the in-game menu)

Oh? I've been using Realm of Lorkhan. I seem to remember trying Live Another Life like ages ago and wasn't horribly impressed. But I'll have to give it a poke on the next run after updating it. Let me see... 2.3.4 according to NMM, hmm. Yeah, 3.1.7. But if I read right you still have to go back to Helgen at some point. RoL I can skip Helgen entirely and start in Whiterun, talk to Jarl Balgruuf who pushes me off onto Farengar who'll push me off to Bleakfalls Barrow like normal with out Helgen. Or I can go to Bleakfalls Barrow and then Whiterun and still skip Helgen.

Incorrect. Doing certain storylines will alter LAL's unbound quest, skipping helgen altogether as well as removing the dialogue option "I had a great few as the imperials where trying to execute me"

Example, if you do the civil war before ever setting foot in helgen, when you deliver balgruff the missive (imperial) or the axe (storm cloaks) as you apraoch the gate: the guard will stop you and say "only official business..." Yada yada, and they will tell you helgen was attacked. You can skip going, go straight to balgruuf and auto complete unbound and proceed to bleakfalls barrow collect dragonstone etc. Never ever going to helgen.

A second, less compatible option that does wirk under the right conditions. Using LAL along with Skyrim unbound, loading Skyrim undound first you can remove the Dragonborn main story and Morrowind questlines completely, effectively rebuilding helgen, alduin never shows up, and you still have the option to have dragons spawn, wether or not wordwalls exist in the world, wether or not you absorb dragon souls, wether or not you learn shouts, and after picking those options still teleport to the abandoned prison to start LAL and boom, you can immediately start dawngaurd and there won't be a Dragonborn at all.

If you stick with LAL only, goin to helgen is optional and you can still play the vanilla main story. Or you can just ignore the main story until you decide you want to by doing ANY quest that involves balgruuf.

I am currently playing a no dragon, no wordwalls, no such thing as a Dragonborn, stormcloak, open civil war play thru.

Alduin never shows up. There's no dragons. No wordwalls. (LAL + SU). And a never ending civil war (open civil war) unless I complete the civil war main questline, ALL towns, villages, holds, forts, and some mines, will flip ownership ever couple days, or I can go to a map table and choose to auto claim(which can fail based on RNG) OR manual claim, where I personal assault the location.

All the while, I never get bothered by dragons, alduin, or the Dragonborn main storyline.

Not to sure I saw anywhere in this post, what console are you on (obviosly not PS4 as all of the three mods we discussed are scripts and outside source)

If you're on PC,there are console commands to do SPECIFICALLY what you want. If you're on Xbox, the most effective method is what I've described above.

Hope this was helpful!

(Sorry after thoughts and website post limits)

Hmm. Interesting. I'll give it a poke on my next run that I am a vampire. Thanks! :D

It works the other way around too, you can immediately be placed in Fort Dawnguard as a non-vampire skipping a good chunk of the questline and be immediately brought to the quest you have to recruit some people.the tamer and the crossbow maker. ( Think there's a third but don't remember)(I specifically mentioned the vampire start because that's what you'd out in your post.)
