Hello everyone,

It's my first time modding a game and i'd like to have advices from experts here.

I've just spent 2 weeks modding skyrim se and checked some tutorials but got lots of problems along the way (black faces, nude npcs, empty npcs inventory, mod not working ....), i managed to solve most of the problems but not the nude npc and empty inventory one, I believe i messed up many times by adding and suppressing mods i didnt like. I can do with a few black faces but not with nude npcs, it breaks the immersion.

So i want to start fresh even if i dont like losing my playthrough and since i know a lot of mod i want to keep i want to merge them to sort everything better and reuse them later. My sorting isnt optimal atm.

Example : The doors mods by hype1 could be regrouped in a single zip easely i believe since they are only meshes and textures files. (link)

When i check the CL's weapon mods (link) i see they have the classics meshes and textures folders but they also have esp files each, since it's a replacer for vanilla weapons, i was wondering what the esp's are for ?

Going back to it, hard work awaits me to sort these hundreds mods

You've probably already seen it but here it goes: the ".esp" files represent the plugin files (i'm thinking they are elder scrolls plugins), generally, they add new records which the game can read then import them to your game. Afterwards you end up with the additional weapons and such in your game; if you didn't have the esp, you wouldn't be able to see the new things in your game. As I've mentioned, they add new records of the items, quests, race, factions, etc. and import the texture and mesh files without replacing the original game files.

Hope this helped...

ok i got this (waaaaay) off the mark... You're talking about merging plugins. That means you know about xEdit (If i got it wrong and you don't know what it is, then here's the link)... Which means that you can see what records those .esp files change when you load them. One of the indispensable tools I've been using since the launch of SSE. Have to know about LOOT, as well, this is the other one. Best way to organise and correct load order issues in my opinion. check it out, if you like. If you're still experiencing black faces after running these check out how to remove those here.

FWIW, NPCs, at least followers, quite often come nude these days, since players usually redress them by providing clothing, armor, and weaponry.

If you mean "true" NPCs (not followers or companions we download and install), that's one thing, (and tbh, I'm not sure hat the solution would be, as I've never encountered it myself), but if they *are followers/companions, that's something you'll have to get used to and deal with on your own
