Deleted7022350User
This is primarily for Fallout 3 but I want to also do some stuff with NV afterwards. I'm trying to add my own custom textures to Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta unique weapons with the GECK and I can't figure it out. Most guides I watched talk about making a whole new weapon with the texture. I just want to change the texture on the uniques that exist already, specifically to the Atomic Pulverizer, Destabilizer, and Backwater Rifle. How do I go about doing this is the GECK? I already made a new folder in the Data folder with all my new textures, made with GIMP if that matters at all. It's just actually putting them on the weapons in GECK I can't figure out. Also looking for advice on Mercenary Grenade Rifle and Blood-Nap if there is any different setup than the F3 weapons.
madmongo
If all you are doing is changing the texture, you don't need the GECK. Well, you kinda need the GECK. You need the GECK to look up the weapon's nif, then open that nif in NifSkope and see what texture it uses. Then create your new textures and place them in the exact same place in the folder structure, with the exact same name. You'll need to extract the nif from the game's bsa archives. Alternately, you can use a different folder for the textures, as you have done, but then you need to change the nif to use the new textures instead of the existing textures. Again, the nif needs to be placed in the exact same location in the folder structure and has to have the exact same name. Make sure that you have exported your texture from GIMP properly or you'll end up with weird textures that won't work at all screen resolutions and graphics settings.
