added via Bethesda in the game*, show up in Vortex.

Presumably you added *after installing vortex. As I noted, I installed waterview via the game, prior to installing vortex and it only shows up in Vortex as a plugin, not as a mod.

shumkar - Agreed. I can't see a reason for worrying about where mods are switched on and off if the game and Vortex are accessing a single record. And I agree, Vortex is incredibly stable. I'm very impressed with it. I really don't enjoy manual modding in any case! I've done enough of that!

I think the issue is between SKSE and SkyUI and I'm trying to run the game with just SKSE to see what happens. This is on an old level 53 save so I dread to think how many mods have been installed and uninstalled in that save so in some ways it really isn't a fair test. But hey ho, I'm a user and users aren't meant to be fair!

The last time I ran both SKSE and SkyUI was a year or so ago on Windows 7 or 10 and I seem to remember some issues even then. But it could be that both are stable and it's just my mixture of mods and my set up...

edited to add - anjenthedog just seen your post! Yes, added to the game inside the game with Vortex already installed. I chose that because it was definitely not one of the mods I'd installed.

Zixi, Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, Vortex has made modding skyrim a breeze. I've done a bit of tweaking manually as I've become more educated on the wheres and whys, but in general I'd prefer to do it the easy way. As someone who has spent most of his professional career in engineering, (and with all the pressures and responsibilities that come with it), I have zero personal desire to do low-level engineering for playing a game. (I *am* grateful to those who have though)

I understand you. It makes sense.

As for me - may be, it's because I'm not a professional engineer - as the saying goes, I would love to change the world, but I don't have the source code.
