Ridiculous load times despite good hardware (sometimes 15+ minutes)

RE: 8K textures, while I don't claim to be an expert on anything in this game (ty for the compliment though, Shumkar) they're very taxing on system resources. I don't have an SOA computer (just below I think) 9700K proc, 64G primary mem, 6G video card (1060SC), and run off a 500G SSD, I "have to settle" for 2K textures (and a couple 4K) or the game slows to a crawl.

Even those folks on youtube who present showcases with high K textures often say they're only using them for "advertising" purposes ie, they can't run full out with them enabled, but they love the pretty picture they present. For instance, MXR has said that over and over in his videos. And he has a far better system than I do and a decade more experience. I just started playing last spring, and my system wasn't designed around Skyrim (unlike his), just specified so that in addition to its normal role as a development system (web dev) and other technical pursuits, I'd be able to run more recent game titles, something my old system and laptop couldn't accomplish due to inadequate performance on the laptop, and the old tower-based dev system (XP) is just not suitable for new content. (not to mention it's kinda dead right now until I swap out the motherboard)

If you're really interested in optimizing your game for high-K textures, you'll probably want to post a new query about that specific topic, and as well do a bit of research on the subject in existing posts here at Nexus, and on the wider net.

Not saying that it's not possible, but I presume you really do need a top notch system and some*real* Skyrim savvy to accomplish it. It's definitely beyond my skills, and I don't have time or an inclination to chase that level of visual performance. As is, with what I'm running, the game looks pretty darned good in my opinion. Or good enough for me anyway.
