wandrinronin
Hello! I've been using Mod Organizer 2 and LOOT for some time. Lately, I've found myself questioning when LOOT incorrectly sorts my plugins. The general rule put forward by the (many) mod tutorials I've watched is to trust LOOT implicitly. That said, I often find that LOOT fails to correctly sort plugins which (to my knowledge) NEED to be placed in a certain order. For example - XPMSE and FNIS. It's my understanding that these plugins ALWAYS go at the bottom of your load order. Yet, when I sort them with LOOT, they're placed in the upper middle of my load order - well before many other miscellaneous plugins of little importance. Am I incorrect in assuming these plugins need to be low? Is LOOT wrong? Is it frequently wrong about OTHER plugins and I don't know it? Is there some sort of guide I can consult that will tell me when LOOT is correct and when it messes up? Just to be clear - I AM using the latest version of LOOT. I launch it directly from an executable through MO2. Thank you for any help you can give me. I'm working on building a new LE mod list centered around SAM bodies. It's been a nightmare getting everything to work properly.
DoctorKaizeld
Am I incorrect in assuming these plugins need to be low?yes you are wrong Is LOOT wrong?sometimes but not always mod order doesn't matter for most mods beyond the mods they work with, overwrite, depend on, or conflict with. two mods that don't do either of those (a mod that adds a sword and another that adds a spell for example) will not and as such can be above or below each other with no issue. The reason you see "place at bottom" on install instructions is because the mod typically conflicts in some way with a lot of other mods or is a dependency of a lot of others (such as FNIS and XPMSE) and it is easier to simply say "put at bottom" then "put below these mods"
