boondocksaint7
Hey guys,Wore out the PS3 for good (over 300 hours vanilla Skyrim) and wanted to get into modding.Got a new computer this past Fri. and have been having a great/horrible time with it. Friday night I knew just enough about mods to royally mess everything up (4 reinstalls over the weekend :wallbash: ) Now I feel I've got a good handle on it but need y'alls help. I've taken a major hit to FPS, though how is somewhat strange. I am going to list my components then mods. The first mods list was fine. Then I'll list the mods I added afterwards that caused me to see a drop in FPS. Now, after installing the ones I am about to list, I'm down to 20 or so FPS.Jaysus SwordsWarzonesBetter VillagesDeadly DragonsFlora OverhaulFiner DustEnchantment FreedomGirls of SkyrimTera ArmourSGFollowers Will any of the mods on the short list have that great of an impact on FPS? I've tried turning off Better Villages, Jaysus Swords, Warzones, Flora and Dragons and still get the same FPS as when they're on. I use BOSS now (didn't before) and it says some of the mods are out of date(like realistic lighting, maybe because I still have Sharpshooters ticked?) and when I use SkyUI it says my SKSE is out of date. So there it is, I've basically just asked all of the questions I couldn't fine in my tireless quest to make Skyrim perfect (which if I can get the FPS up it will be.) I know it's a lot, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Edited November 14, 2012 by boondocksaint7
Georgiegril
Update skse, that could be all it takes to solve your problem.Have you taken care of all the messages BOSS gives you? If you have obsolete mods they may also be the problem, or mods with known compatibility issues. If you do all of that and still have errors...are you sure your drivers are up to date, and there are no leftover files from older driver versions left in your driver file? There are new beta drivers out, too, if you are brave, that supposedly increase speeds for your driver series. If you are not alrady using an fps limiter, you might find that limiting to 60 (or lower if needed) smooths out the gameplay to your satisfaction. I have read that the eye can really only track at 35 fps anyway. Not sure if that is true... Still having issues after all that, I would look at your mods, many texture mods offer high and low res versions. You may need a few at lower resolution. Or you may need to make some choices and postpone a few mods until your next play through. Obviously doing basic computer maintenance (clear cache, defrag, etc) and shutting down unnecessary processes/services/apps can help as well (I do this manually, other people like Gamebooster). And if you are not doing so already, you may want to try running Steam in offline mode. Stops the annoying in-game updating and such. Also, is your OC factory-set or manual? You might need to play around a bit with your clocks--especially if you are pushing your PSU limits, that could cause some performance issues. Hope something here helps. I envy your nice set-up!
