ShadowTheWiseman
So I have a lot of mods. And most of them had quests attached to them and have long term benefits. (equipment and player homes and such) But now all my mods reload from scratch as though I haven't done any of the quests. The same goes for the DLC's. So not just the mods. I have to listen to the nuka-world radio again even though I have been there. I do have one save that doesn't do this but any newer saves always reload all the esp files after the game progress instead of before. (I think) As for equipment mods and player customization mods. Those load after as well. So I go back to a default hair style, my armor goes back to being visible. And my clothes are gone. My Vault dwellers pistol and other such weapons disappear as well. So I'm left naked, with mix and match combat armor, a bad haircut and no weapons. I also tried saving after it reloads the esp files and reloading and it reloads them all over again when I load the new save file. Meaning I won't be able to progress through any of the DLC content or fix any of the mods and equipment I've worked on. And I lose all my player homes -.-' Edited January 16, 2020 by ShadowTheWiseman
StormWolf01
heyas Shadow. Wow, this is some crazy stuff that you've got going on here. :(I've got a few ideas, right off the bat.1) If you are starting the game through vortex. Don't. Try starting the game out through fo4se (if you're using it) or the game loader instead, and see if that fixes the problem.2) If you are running any creation club content, deactivate it, and try running the game without it.3) Try this on a new character as a test subject. Start with as few mods active, as possible. Don't activate them til after you leave the vault (not including any CC stuff, keep that turned off).Play it for a bit, then see if the problem re-occurs. ShadowTheWiseman
Well without mods it works fine apparently. Though it's hard to say if it does or doesn't this early in the play through as there is no progress to lose. But I have no idea how to disable creation club content. Either way since I disabled everything. I decided to slowly take mods away by date. And at this point I'm getting CTD before the game even gets to the title screen. And I already validated the game files twice. Edited January 17, 2020 by ShadowTheWiseman
StormWolf01
Heyas Shadow- if you have creation club stuuf, you bought it from bethesda. It activates or deactivates like any other mod. Ok, so you've started to test to see what mods are working. From those that you've activated, you should be able to narrow it down, what the culprit is.Please post back, on what you find out. there's other people that are having this problem too.Ok nvm that, I misread what you posted. Keep going until you get to concord, with no mods active. Just long enough to get into the museum and start the quest with Preston. Then save it. If your game is crashing, before it finishes loading....I'm pretty sure that I've got a good idea of what is going on.How many mods have you got in your game? What you're describing makes me think that you have too many mods, and have reached or gone past the 254 mod limit. ShadowTheWiseman
No I made sure to keep it under 200. Old hat when it comes to modding Hex based games. I know I could push it further but honestly I just cleaned up my list to take out everything I don't ever use. Though I've narrowed it down quite a bit now. I think the windows update from a few days ago may have broken a few mods. So far I've take two out the cause a ctd. Been at it all day today. StormWolf01
If you want to try to do a system restore from a previous restore point, before the update, that might be worth a try to see if that's the case or not.https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-system-restore-in-windows-2626131 Are you using a mod manager? Have you updated the game via steam recently or since the november '19 updates?
ShadowTheWiseman
Haven't updated since November. But I think some mods have started conflicting. Still trying to narrow it down to see which mods are causing issues. EDIT: Well, I found out which mods stopped working. It was 5 of the mods that I used the most. Two of them that are going to destroy my save so I'm troubleshooting those. One of those two is the AWKCR, so yeah. That broke my game pretty bad. The other is Sim settlements, which I was just starting to get into. Which means I'll have to rebuild all my settlements by hand. The other three I can live without. Just a clothing rebalance so I don't have to wear combat armor and Ballistic weave underarmor. Which is fine because I can still use the Silver Shroud or General's Uniform with Ballistic Weave at least. And make combat armor invisible. But a lot of my armor and weapon mods won't work properly without the AWKCR. Edited January 18, 2020 by ShadowTheWiseman
StormWolf01
Heyas Shadow! Ok, so you're still probly running version 138 of the game, right? Are the mods that aren't working, have they been updated since november 18th (I think it was)?if so, those were updated to match the new game version. Downgrade back to the version of the mod that you had before. If you can't get the older version, you're gonna have to go in and edit the header information for the mods that aren't working. It's not very hard to do, and once you've done it a couple of times, the work itself will only take a couple of seconds. Got to work on older version by chaging file header from 1.000000 to 0.950000 But it will mean that you will have to download and install Xedit. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737/ or open the mods in the CK. I don't use the CK, so I can only tell you how to do it in Xedit. Before doing this, make backup copies of the esp/esm/esl files that you are going to edit, just in case!! After installing Xedit (also I apologize, I almost always typo this as "exit". So I'll apologize in advance if I do, and miss it!) it will bring up a list of ALL your installed mods. Press the CTRL key and tap the A key on your keyboard to highlight the entire list. Uncheck ONE mod in the list, and since they are all highlighted it will uncheck all of them. Now, single click one of the mods in the list, to undo the highlight all. Now, put check marks next to the mods that we need to update. Then click Okay, or Load (can't remember what the button says, atm.) That will take a minute or two. Once it loads all the files for the mods, you will see them listed in the left hand panel. They will have a + sign beside their name. Click on the + to expand the list for that mod. You will then see a file that says HEADER. Click on that, and it will open in the right hand side panel. You're going to want to look for the version number. If the mod hasn't been updated, it will most likely read something close to 0.950000 You will want to right click that version number, choose edit, and type in 1.000000 I recommend using copy and paste. Also, a big popup is going to spring up, asking if you're sure that you want to make changes to the file. Don't freak out, that's just Xedit doing a double check, it's perfectly normal. Once you have that mod edited, you will have to do the same thing with the next mod. Rinse and repeat until all three have been updated. When you're finished updating the headers, press and hold your CTRL key, and tap the S key. That will have xedit save the changes to the files. Ok, I hope that this helps!Let us know -Storm PS- If you're going to keep using and older version of the game, you're gonna need this- https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/42497Most of the time, it'll make it so that you won't need to keep changing those headers for the new mods, but you may still need to every now and then. ShadowTheWiseman
Nope, but I think it may not actually be the keywords that is causing the issue. But one of it's dependents. The problem is so many mods depend on it I have no idea which ones do or don't. I still picked up the nexus file you referenced. Will be useful in the future to prevent all the mods from crashing when the game updates. Simply get the game stable and stop the updates entirely until playthrough is done. EDIT: also I am using Vortex but have tried launching the game directly from f4se. I've also tried re-installing the problematic mods manually in case vortex was messing up the install. StormWolf01
Shadow- I just remembered something. I remembered that when I installed FO4 on this machine that I had probs getting the nexus DL for AWKCR to extract correctly. Try this.Delete it and it's installed files. Including from Vortex.Go in game, go to the in game mods manager by choosing mods at the load screen, and search bethesda.net for the awkcr.I think I found it using community or keywords as my search term. See if that helps. Edited for typos Edited January 19, 2020 by StormWolf01
