Doubt regarding Intel and AMD processors

Recommended Posts

So the I5 3570 huh? And compared to the 8350, how much worse/better is it?

as i was saying, the 3570k (k means it can be OCed btw) is better then the 8530 in just about everything, including games. however that said, its not an extreme blow out. the 3570k gets roughly 10FPS+ more then the 8350, but from what ive seen, both are usually at or over the 60FPS mark. so youre usually comparing 60 vs 70 or even 70 vs 80 or 55 vs 65 etc. which in those cases isnt a big deal.

so in your case, where you already have an AM3(+) mobo, i would say get the 8350. save yourself the $150+ of getting a new mobo by switching to Intel.

Thank you all for replying!

I never thought my simple question would raise such an enlighting argument, but it was quite educational.

I was because in the near future I'd like to change my FX 6100 for a better one, and wether I should change my mobo if I were to go with intel.

Right now I'm disappointdd with my processor, even OC'd to 4.5 ghz it runs my games slow, creating a huge bottleneck with my GTX 680. I made the mistake of buying it just because it was on sale.

An i5 3570k is faster in gaming performance than an 8350 but slower in things like editing or transcoding. If you are only going for gaming performance than the 3570k is the way to go. And yes you will need a new Intel motherboard with socket LGA 1155.

Honestly I know how you feel. I had the same issue with AMD a while back when I had my AMD 1100T (a now discontinued hex core from the phenom series).

If you already have a FX6100 your best option for an upgrade is the 8350, because with an Intel processor you need to get a new motherboard.

If I were to upgrade to the 8350, would I need to format my PC as if I were changing mobos? Another thing, I have an Asus M5A97, would that affect the OC in the 8350?
