Distant Terrain Issues

Recently I've noticed that the textures at distance look horrible and low rez. At times they fail to render even when I go uber close to them. I have to get real close for them to even load up. I've reinstalled the game but it still happens.

Pics (Look at the river/rapids, they look like blocks of ice)

SMIM does not affect water at all. WATER improves the look of water, it is the vanilla game engine that causes the frozen waterfall look. I fixed that by changing my ugridstoload to 7. However, doing so increases the memory load on both RAM and VRAM, as the cells that load will also load the associated scripts, NPCs, etc. If you are interested in considering that, thegeforce tweaks guide explains it well. If you are loving your character and where you are at in the game, you might think twice, since if it doesn't work you will have to start over, very likely. You might check out the rest of the guide. Some of it is old (like it refers t the LAA patch, which is now no longer required), but there are a lot of good ideas for game improvement. This page in the guide discusses ini tweaks for improving distance detail.

The problem could be that your graphics hardware is being overtaxed by using a lot of high-res mods....many have lower res options available in their downloads section. Not sure what your comp specs are. I am using an older card, and I was able to make a good compromise by extending my diistance out with 7 ugrids, but using lower res options of many of the mods you are also use. I think if that were the case for you, you woudld see graphics rendering slowly on you screen, maybe some lagging and fps drops.

Oh, and just checking, you are using BOSS for your load order?
