theLeeHarvey
I have to admit a particular fondness for the Blackhawk Scoped .44. One hit to the head kills most anything and the ability to do it from a distance, well, it's gravy. My Typical loadout is the Blackhawk, Chinese Assault rifle, Shishkebob and the Combat Shotgun. A weapon for every occurance. I was wondering what everyone else likes best and what you typically carry for any eventuality.
Stewb
not many .44 magnums to repair the blackhawk with though unless you pay for your repairs... or cheat :( my typical weapon load would be combat shotgun for close range or multiple enemies, hunting rifle or lincoln's repeater for mid - long range sniping and a sniper rifle just for the hell of it ;) all of these are easy to repair as the repair components are common drops, i.e combat shotgun can be found on most bandits, hunting rifles on mutants, sniper rifle i rarely use, so repairs are few and far between ;)
WrathOfDeadguy
'Ol Painless or a Hunting Rifle for general head-popping, and alternately a Scoped .44 (Blackhawk if I have it), Lincoln's Repeater, or a Sniper Rifle for nailing larger, more dangerous foes. If I'm traveling heavy, I'll bring a Combat Shotgun or the Kneecapper with me as well, though the way I play I really only need shotguns for taking big, nasty enemies while indoors. I don't bother with the Assault Rifles unless my main weapons have been disabled and it's all I can find... they use ammo too fast and offer too little damage in return. A three-shot burst rarely produces a kill at medium range, even with maxed Small Guns and all of the accuracy/damage perks at least one shot in three usually misses, and more often two. With a Hunting Rifle, the Repeater, a .44 or a Sniper Rifle, maybe one shot in 20 misses so I get a lot more bang out of my stockpiled ammo. The few times I carried any Assault Rifle around, I found that I could easily blow through 100+ rounds in a single decent fight... as opposed to 15-20 rounds from another weapon. The math just didn't support continued use of fully-automatic weaponry when judicious use of cover and careful aiming/use of VATS could produce far more spectacular results with fewer shots fired. zmily
blackhawk is the vanilla favorite.. but the desert eagle and a valhalla rifle is my favorite setup :P deagle for indoor use and valhalla for outdoor use :P it's almost too sweet popping ghoul heads with a deagle in a confined space :D
mikekearn
I used the hunting rifle nearly all the time unless the enemy was right in my face or I was in very enclosed spaces (i.e. certain subway sections). Then it was the combat shotgun. Of course, I'm always on the hunt for the unique versions of various weapons, and have The Terrible Shotgun for close encounters, and either Ol' Painless or Lincoln's Repeater for mid to long range, depending on whether I have more .44 or .32 ammo at the time. I also carry around either the Alien Blaster or the Firelance, when enemies just really need to be vaporized. Also fun is the Plasma Rifle, and I happen to have obtained A3-21's Plasma Rifle, for slightly extra killing power. Really, it would probably be easier for me to say what small guns I don't use: let's see, the .32 pistol, the Chinese Pistol. Well, that was fast. ;D

theLeeHarvey
Desert Eagle? Is that a mod? I play it on 360 so if it is, too bad for me I guess.
SangRahl
Current settup is Hunting Rifle/Chinese Assault Rifle for raiders/ghouls and Sniper Rifle/Combat Shotgun for bigger baddies... And a Silenced 10mm for clearing annoying bloody little roaches off my radar without alerting anything larger that might be in the next room. No unique weapons yet that I'd really make use of... though I do have a Firelance on my mantle like a prized toy from my childhood. I used to keep a .44 Magnum with me, but the ammo started getting rare pretty fast... Now that I've become an entrepeneur, I'm hoping my access to units to strip for repairs and additional ammo stores will let me bring it, and the Sniper, out more often. fallout3enthusiast
I found a 30 damage combat shotgun which is lush. Takes off heads with one shot. Tasty.
armswat
SNIPER RIFLE, all categories! I cant discripe the fealing of going around the corner of a square, to see one big fat Super Mutant Master. Aim head, and ZAAAP... the head flies though the air, and only the sound from a headles body going to the ground speaks its language. Its fantastic! Lack of ammo though! For the local raider or cockroach, huntingrifle!
