Graphical difference

Unlike the xbox, the PC can be run in different resolutions. so it can be anything from 640x480 to 1680x1050 Widescreen. You use what ever resolution your monitor, video card and system can handle and still run good. So, depending on your system, it could be much worse, or better. Then using mods to improve the quality, if your system can handle the extra, it can be quite a bit better. Unless you have a high end gaming PC, it will usually be not quite as good unless you use mods to make it look better. And that can slow you down. (reduced FPS)

For most people it's a trade off between video quality and FPS.

FPS is frames per second - the more you have the smoother the game runs.

I have what was a top of the line gaming PC a little over a year ago, so it's not bad now, but still out of date with how fast these things move. For me, I can run the game at max settings so long as I'm standing still, or my FPS drops pretty significantly, heh.

The settings I actually play on are a bit lower, and the difference isn't noticeable in normal gameplay. If I stop and look around, I can see details I didn't see in the Xbox version, but it plays exactly the same and Bethesda seems to have squeezed quite a lot of power out of the Xbox to get that version looking good. Really, unless you have a high end rig with the latest stuff, the PC version is only superior in its ability to have mods. (Which, I do admit, is a pretty deal around here ;))

I play on PC at 1920x1200 on a 24" widescreen with everything turned up and my buddy plays on the 360 with a standard 25" television. My game looks far better, although I do suffer the occasional "stutter" when running long distances with a group of people.

The resolution numbers I posted are the limitations of my puny 7600GT board and wimpy 20 inch monitor. If your system can handle it. you can get fabulous video and still have good FPS. If you want a smoother game, trade some video features for a little more FPS.

Woogie, with a system like that no wonder you spend all of your time playing games.

See, I have a PC with a Geforce 8800gtx and a crap load of ram, but I also have a 360, which I have already bought Fallout3 for. I am just wondering if I shouldn't get it for the pc too.

In your case, I would say no. You already own the game and at the moment, the currently available Fallout 3 mods are just not worth coughing up $45-$50 to buy another copy of the game you just paid $62 for two weeks ago. In a few weeks or if the modders ever get their busy little hands on a toolkit, then maybe see if you can get trade credit for your old copy and put that towards a copy of the PC version, which will probably be down to $39 by then.

On a side note, price, another reason to always go PC if you have the choice.
