CTD with no error, please help?

So basically I'm getting CTD's every now and again, but the time scales are really erratic, sometimes it's with in 5, 10 or 15 minutes, other times it's within about an hour then a string of instant CTD's upon load up. Whats got me here is I pirated Skyrim a few months back and it worked perfectly, with a lot of mods installed.

I recently wiped my computer and decided to buy it cause hey, it's a great game.

But the Steam version I bought literally crashes as much as I said earlier.

I have tried turning off V-Synch, running as admin/compatibility mode, changing my sound settings. I can't lower shadows like some people suggested as I run Skyrim on low haha.

I'm really at my wits end here, I feel like I've wasted £30 (I got both DLC aswell) on something that's not going to work and we all know how Steam feel about giving refunds.

That's the list of mods I'm running but I honestly can't see any of them causing a problem?

Any help at all would be great, thanks a lot guys.

the complete crafting overhaul revamps the weight values for most items, if i'm remembering the right mod. not sure if it would conflict with the weightless mods, or just over-write them, but anyway - might be worth looking into them.

Also, the unofficial mods might be helpful.

If you can, post specific triggers for the crashes. Ie if they happen frequently in a specific area, even if that's not the only area.

Have you tried validating your files through steam?

If a file is corrupt or missing that'll replace it for you.

There doesn't seem to any specific triggers, it's just random. There was one point where if I fast traveled to riften it would CTD straight away, but it doesn't do that anymore :S it's really weird, I honestly don't seem to be doing anything out of the ordinary when it happens, it's usually open world though i.e not inside a city, dungeon ect.

One problem I was having was my GPU was over heating. Skyrim is a big game and requires a lot out of your computer. You should take a look at your GPU temps and see if that may be an issue. I just added some additional cooling to my unit and problem solved. Good luck.

Thanks Thasic, I'll see if I can get a cooling tray for my laptop (Yes I am using a laptop >_> laugh away), funny thing though, I validated my Steam cache and it says there was a missing file and that it was restoring it, but as far as I can tell it's not actually done it, I mean that isn't just a guess as I've validated the cache 5 times now and it's sill coming up with a missing file, just the one? Any suggestions? Edited by pastafarian

Hey just a quick update, I followed up on a youtube video telling me to go have a look at my plugins.txt and see if there were two skyrim.esm's in place, what I found was this.

Dawnguard.esm

HearthFires.esm

Update.esm

SPIKE.esm

JSwords.esm

LevelersTower.esm

ApachiiHair.esm

dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Reduced.esp

hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp

Immersive Weapons.esp

dD - Enhanced Blood Main.esp

The Dance of Death.esp

Bullseye.esp

Hearthfire Cheat Chests.esp

Weapons and Armor fixes - Hacks.esp

Weapons and Armor fixes.esp

Sneak Tools.esp

Sneak Tools Vanilla Masks.esp

Sneak Tools Vanilla Hoods.esp

Smithing Perks Overhaul - Balanced.esp

Complete Crafting Overhaul.esp

Crossbow_Basic_Collection_LListed_EN.esp

dD-No Spinning Death Animation.esp

Console Books.esp

two_handed_rebalance.esp

So basically there was no Skyrim.esm at all, I've added the line of text myself but I'm really not sure if I've done the right thing, any feedback would be much appreciated.
