hirohoship
I want to know how to update mods via the NMM. For example, when it says do you want to update, do I say yes or no (there has been a mod where I was supposed to say no) to the dialogue box. Also, when prompted to replace identical files, do I replace everything or just specific files based on the mod? Thank you for your help.
IsharaMeradin
It all depends on the mod in question to be honest. If the updated mod is a full update, then you can say yes in the update box and it will automatically deactivate the previous version and activate the new version. If the updated mod is a partial update that requires resources of the previous version, then you say no so that it will install along side and only overwrite files as needed. Usually when you update a mod with a partial update you would allow it to overwrite everything (i.e. yes to all). The times to not overwrite all are very rare and are usually spelled out by the author. Another option is to read up on the mod & find out if it was updated as a partial or full update, if it is a full update you can also just uninstall the previous version and install the new version without getting any prompt about updating. No matter how you scratch it tho NMM moves the reactivated esp to the bottom of the load order so you'll need to make sure it gets put back into the correct spot. (at least that has been my experience...) Hope this helps
